Got this e-mail on some inquiries I had about some changes my Brit-picker made on a yet unpublished fic. She'd changed "horny" to "turned on", and I'd asked her if there wasn't a cruder alternative. Maybe "randy" or something to that effect.

Hahahaha. INORITE??? And she has ridiculously fast turn-arounds to boot. I send her stuff and am like, "Take a couple of weeks or more, my other betas are slow-pokes busy IRL - I'll poke you if I set a deadline!" and then... six hours later I have mail. With ridiculously great explanations. :D

You got any opinions to add about horny/randy/having a stiffie? XD At this point... I barely even remember the context. I'm just ridiculously excited that she discussed it with her husband and her kids club.

i completely agree with randy not working. never heard that in a positive context in the UK. I think it also sounds stupid, lol. XD

i think horny might work, they are teenagers... who, um, don't watch American TV. hmmm. i think that's something you might be able to get away with though.

Stiffy is something my boyfriend says only really young, immature teenagers would say, lmao. he hates that word with a passion though it seem, so i'd say he's biased. he also hates me calling him boyfriend though, so there you go, he hates a lot of words other people use, hehe. i think he just wants me to use words that are 'manly' so he doesn't feel so young. ;)

i am trying to picture Draco saying horny or stiffy and somehow failing to do that while keeping a straight face. i think he would say them, but he might be laughed at, and that would be awesome.

In this fic they are a bit aged up. I didn't put any specific age on them but possibly mid-twenties or so. It's a Post-Hogwarts thing. Still, that would chronologically be five to ten years ago (the character Draco just turned 32 IRL. Yes, that's a thing lol) and idk if contamination was as bad then?

Heeh, stiffy... well, idk if his character can be considered mature, so there's that.

I'd go find the context and c/p it but I... no. From what I remember, it would be a bit embarrassing for me to post randomly. Especially to a non-shipper. XD (Eh, none of those scenes are never embarrassing when I write them... and no it's not porn XD)

Us British really are quite reserved...I mean we don't even say things like penis or anything but "down below" or "the thingie" or "hoo ha" or "vajayjay" or gah too many terms other than the ACTUAL name. lol I have been bought up this way so long I find it difficult to say the words too. :|

I think "vajayjay" actually originated with an Oprah Winfrey show or something. At least that's how I heard it.

You do like your euphemisms, though. And they can be hilarious! :D

haha, I say vagina/cock/penis a lot. I'm not really a "down below" person; say it as it is. I dooo shy away from "pussy" though because it sounds so...crude...and gross... :| (O, and "fanny" just reminds me of the Regency period.)

Haha, I quite like "stiffy", actually. Might see if I can work that in there. I just think turned on is a bit... like, it's speech and he means to be kind of crude. >_>

Heeh! I find the US society (at least as projected to us over here in Europe) to be kind of polarised on the subject of sex. On the one hand, it's tits and ass all over, but on the other... it's almost completely taboo. It's enough to give me whiplash sometimes. O.o

I've learned a lot of Briticisms about sex by reading Inception fanfic, amazingly enough. ;) Not that I think you should read it, but every once in a while I have to stop and go WHY?!!!!
