Anyone else somewhat bothered by/find it boring that Thor ended up with Jane Foster instead of Sif in the movie-verse? I mean 1. Sif is Thor's consort in actual Norse mythology and it would be awesome to see that translated to sci-fi and 2. The mortal/immortal romance is just so typical and it would be nice to see more immortal/immortal love

Was skimming through your LJ and came across this...

And yes, both bothered by AND bored by the romance thing.

I've seen Thor 1 and The Avengers, and can - if I keep my mind hermetically sealed against all other knowledge - appreciate the characters/stories for what they are. But every time I begin to compare to the actual mythology I get very frustrated...

Of course, in my mind they all look like the Peter Madsen comic book characters, which makes the movie characters even funnier in comparison. ;)

I admit I'm pretty much ignorant about comic books (with the exception of Disney Comics), but I've read a little bit about the Thor ones and it looks like I'd like them better, too. :)

Peter Madsen is a genius! His stories (all based on the original myths) were a wonderful part of my childhood. <3

(I'm not familiar with American comics - except for Will Eisner's work, and Elfquest - so I have no attachment to the stuff the films are based on.)
