Entry Number One: Graduate Page Project

Jan 23, 2008 13:53

Alright, so since I'm in my last "year" of page school in order to graduate I need to do a project as well as a few other things. The real kicker for me is choosing a project to do. Last time I worked in the lunch kitchen at the shire's event. I have a few options on what I can do, though I'm ruling the kitchen as my big project out because I did that last time. So here are the options I've come up with for a big project.

1. Make my own Kimono and possibly enter it in an a& s fair
2. Make some other a & s project and enter it in an a& s fair
3. Ask to help run children's activities at our (the shire's) next event
4. Do some other large scale service project, but not in a kitchen

Ok, there's what I've got. If you couldn't tell I do more service and arts & sciences than chivalry projects. I could probably figure out a way to do a children’s class if I wanted to... maybe I should add that to my list.

I think making my own period kimono would be fun, hard because of the sewing but fun. Not only that but I could actually wear it and say that I made it on my own with little help from adults. Plus I want one I can wear at events and I don't know of anyone else that has made one before. Not only that but the only way I'll probably get one is if I make it my self.

As for the helping out with children’s activities, well I'm a firm believer that every event should have some sort of children's activity. Not a day care service but a place where there will be a few things that kids can do that are more or less accurate for the SCA. I'll just leave it at that before I start ranting, I'll tend to do that when I'm on this subject and one very close to it.

Ahem, anyways back on track! My last two options that I have listed are really kinda generic and I'd have to actually think about what kinda project I wanna do. ... ... I'm really starting to think teaching a kids class would be a cool project. That could get dangerous if I run with the idea to much, I'll have to let it sit for now and talk to the boss lady known as mom.

Well till next time then!
