Happy Belated Birthday, Darling! I hope you have enjoyed a wonderful, fun-filled day with lots of love, cake and attention and may the year to come bring nothing but joy.
Here, have goats on a tree - fresh from Morocco ^__^ .
They are, aren't they? They are climbing the trees to get at the Argan nuts growing there.
It's actually a heartwarming story. The Goats eat the nuts, digest their fleshy shells and dump the kernels along with the rest of their bodily waste. The shepherd (or rather, his wife) collects the kernels and squeezes oil out of them (after sanitizing them somewhat, I hope).
The resulting Argan oil is one of the most precious, rare and expensive kinds of oil there is (I bought one small bottle for the equivalent of € 12,-- a pop). All thanks to these pretty little goats.
The trip was everything I wanted and more; we had a blast. Would you like to see the pictures? Here, have a look.
I saw a bottle of 'Morrocan Argan Oil' hair treatment at my hairdresser's today and started snickering - then gleefully explained to the curious young lady how the nuts are processed.
