Aw shucks, thank you. I'm surprised nobody ever took note of the genetic similarities in their faces before. When it hit me one day a few months ago, it was like, "omigosh YES!" (FYI, it's possible to get a CAS sim that comes reeeeally close to looking like Nervous if you click on the pacifier long enough.)
Poor General. He looks so sad in that teaser and all through this update. He really has suffered a lot during his life. And I have noticed the similarities between Buzz and Nervous, but I guess I have swallowed Olive's version ;).
I have contemplated aging Olive down in my new uber-megahood and now I just have to do it. She looks so amazing in you pictures. And teen-Buzz is a cutie *swoon*.
And the woman Crystal is working for is the same woman who hired Circe, right? Somehow I'm sure *she* will have a part to play in this plot...
Yeah, if I stuck to Maxis canon, she would have really just had sex with the Grim Reaper, not Buzz. I figured it would be fun to explore a new interpretation and it's not too out there, right? ;)
It's a shame Olive out of the box looks so dumpy. It's just that ugly elder dress really. The hair is fine though and she looks good in the black version of that same hair. Even as an elder, she looks really sharp if you use the adults' clothes for elders hack and dress her in something nice. :)
Yes, Circe's boss will play a role in what's coming up. Erm, can't really say which chapter, because I am sorta winging this story. It's fun to wing it though because then I can let the sims randomize the plot a little bit.
No, your twist here is quite believable. And that would give Olive some kind of reason to kill Lyla, I guess.
Olive is such an interesting character, that it's a shame she looks so drab and has so little time left when you start the game. I have given her a few extra days, but now I'll age her down.
Something just struck me, a theory of Circe's boss, hmmm...
And I'm definitely enjoying your story. I thought I had friended you, but apparently not... Mind if I do that now?
And yes, killing Lyla...bingo. I always wondered why Buzz disliked Olive at the start of the game. He doesn't even know that Lyla is dead, so he wouldn't have a logical reason to hate Olive for that. Olive doesn't need as much of a "reason" to kill Lyla since she's killed off so many others, but this ties it together nicely.
I think an aged-down Olive would be awesome. Which megahood are you using, the HP one or the Mixreality one? In either one, she'll be a force to be reckoned with, won't she?
I'm with cindyanne. Nervous as the General's son is brilliant. I love what you're doing with the General. I love him as a sympathetic (yet still very rough) character.
The pics in this are fabulous, too. The one of the General's flashbacks all pieced together on the same shot and then slowly coming back from the the flashbacks with the background changing behind the General as he ages. Excellent. And the last pic is wonderful (though I snickered at Vid, looks like the EMT's not so good at getting that wheelchair up that slope, don't fall out, Viddy).
Thank you very much. I want Buzz to be sympathetic. Of course at the same time, he's not the nicest or most upright of sims (none of them are, now that I think about their stats).
The montage pic--I have to give props to Wendy Pini, ever hear of her?--for that idea. The General sitting in the chair at different ages just kind of evolved. I'm glad you noticed the changes in the background. I thought the nighttime lighting + flashback fading would obscure the paint so then I swapped out the picture. It was fun imagining how different the house would be some 25 years ago.
I am tragically disappointed that my montage pic did not offend P-bucket. Except not really. *snicker*
I wasn't happy about the wheelchair anyway. It was the best I could do--I really wanted a stretcher for that scene. The wheelchair itself is a nice one though--windkeeper made it but darn it, my Google-fu failed me in finding that stretcher.
That's why I've always liked Buzz so much. Maxis sets him up so you can just go with the "mean dad" story or you can really LOOK at what makes him so rough. Unlike the Beaker's who don't have as much built in sympathy (as Maxis sets them up). Yeah, now that you mention it a lot of the Strangetown folks aren't set up to be that likable from the get go. Lot's of crabby folks living there.
The wheelchair works to show Vid's not THAT ill (or dead). And you know Circe's thinking the same thing, "Fall out of that chair you bastard!"
Oh, definitely, she's thinking that, I agree. "Fall OUT already and HIT your head on a ROCK!"
That's one reason I like the Strangetown sims--all the grumpybutts to play with. I just think Buzz is awesome too once I got past the bad first impression. He's a bad bad boy when ACR's in the picture too. ;) Lots of fun.
I think of Buzz as more of a "stern dad" than a "mean one." Much as I loved Joe Mulcahey's (sp?) Strangetown Conspiracy videos, I didn't want to take Buzz quite as far down that track as Joe did. Chip Grunt was probably a stern taskmaster and full of righteous probity. Harsh but not violent.
Huh. You know, I had noticed some similarities between Nervous and the Grunt boys, but I never paid it much attention. This story is pretty damn awesome. More please. :)

I also liked how Crystal stepped in to defend Vid. I'm a little worried about why and why she wants to keep the house so much...
And Circe...is evul.

Hubris is what comes to mind when I think of Circe. She's awful because she feels so justified in doing what she's doing.
