The Things We Can't Control Master Post Chapter 99 ~The Day After~
Jin breathed an enormous sigh of relief at the sight of Kazuya sleeping so peacefully. Out of the whole plan, this was the part he was most nervous about. He remembered that time at the motel out of town. Kazuya hadn’t slept at all that night.
Yurina told him a couple days ago that it wasn’t always like that for Kazuya. She said he used to sleep on a mat in the living room of the apartment Kizuna was originally based out of (the same one they sent Jin to so he could shower). Nobody was sure what changed but there were many opinions. The most outlandish one was from Tegoshi who suggested aliens were involved. Unfortunately, Koki came around to scold the both of them for scaring Reina after that. Apparently some of the other Hellions overheard the conversation and told Reina that Kazuya was an alien and it took Koki forty minutes to calm her down.
If Jin was to take a guess, he’d pin it on Papa K. Kazuya blamed himself for everything the man did, especially when it affected Kizuna. All because it was his father and the man swore revenge for his eye.
Jin felt a bit guilty. He dumped a mess on Kazuya that set them against Papa K again. He couldn’t completely regret it though. After all, they saved Tatsuya and Jin was better for having met Kazuya.
And he really was so beautiful like this, wasn’t he? The way his hair fell around his face. The even rise and fall of his chest. The small smile. All of it. It all warmed Jin’s heart and he marveled at how quickly Kazuya had become this important to him. Things like this didn’t happen, not in their world. In their world, everyone was fighting so hard just to survive that there wasn’t room for this sort of stuff. You couldn’t expect to even find food half the time, let alone this kind of beauty and trust and contentment.
And it was all the more beautiful because Kazuya couldn’t see it. Beautiful… and sad.
Jin decided that sitting there watching Kazuya sleep for much longer would qualify more as creepy stalking than love so he climbed under the covers and pulled the sleeping man into his arms. Carefully he swept the hair off Kazuya’s cheek. He kissed him and whispered, “I will see him dead, Kazu-love. Don’t you doubt that for a moment.”
Kazuya snuggled into the embrace and it didn’t take long for Jin to fall asleep, too.

Some annoying buzzing sound threatened to pull Kame from his slumber and he didn’t want to wake up at first, but nobody called the office phone unless it was important. He needed to answer it.
Since when was his mat so soft?
Wait… the ring… it was… different? And… and this wasn’t the office. Where was this?
Oh. Hotel. Date. Right.
Had he really fallen asleep at the hotel? He was so sure he wouldn’t…
Maybe he should just stop expecting sleepless nights altogether when Jin was with him. With the exception of that night spent out-of-town, Kame had slept each and every time he was so sure he wouldn’t around Jin. After so many instances, it was more foolish than not to keep expecting that.
He managed to extract himself from the still-sleeping Jin and answered the phone. It was the front desk with a wakeup call. Apparently checkout was at ten and that was not so far off. If they wanted to stay past that, they’d have to rent the room a second night and from the man’s tone, it was clear he didn’t expect Jin to have that kind of money.
Kame was in too good a mood to complain about the attitude, though. Yesterday was simply amazing and he couldn’t believe Jin went so far as to get them matching rings. It really made him feel special.
Not only that. There were things that Kame knew and had known for quite some time, but he realized in that moment he hadn’t really accepted them on the deepest levels of himself. Inside him was this hard lump of fear put there by his father that kept him from truly accepting those facts. Kizuna was strong. It wasn’t only his strength protecting them but the strength of all of them, thin threads all woven together into a much more lasting fabric. Yes, his father was evil and very powerful but he was hardly an omnipotent god. The man trusted no one. No one trusted him.
For perhaps the first time ever, Kame wasn’t afraid.
Well, maybe a still a little…
But only as much as he should be and not the unrealistic and paralyzing fear of a monster which strikes from every shadowed corner. For how powerful could his father really be without love of any kind?
Jin looked so peaceful that Kame didn’t want to wake him until he had to so instead he crossed the room to where Jin had left their bag, intending to get some clean clothes for the both of them.
That’s when he found the tape.
Was that…
Yasu said he destroyed it! And how did Jin get his hands on this? He… he must have gone even after…
“Jin!”
“Where’s the snow peas?” Jin mumbled and rolled over in his sleep.
“JIN! WAKE UP!”
With a yawn, Jin pushed himself up to sit. “Whuzzrong…” and he seemed to still be partially asleep.
But Kame was now pissed. “What the hell is this?” and he held out the tape.
Jin rubbed his eyes. “That’s… uh… an I-Love-You Present from your Jinjin?”
“Uh huh… and just how did you get it?” Jin was not going to charm or adorable his way out of this, though. Kame was determined.
“It’s not fair to start an argument when you’re standing there naked in front of me,” Jin whined childishly while his eyes very obviously wandered Kame’s body.
“God, stop thinking with your dick and answer me!”
Jin sighed irritably. “Look, I knew you’d be mad. But you need it, right? So there’s no problem.”
“I don’t care how much we need it, Jin! Do you understand how dangerous that was? You’re lucky you didn’t get shot before you reached him and you’re doubly lucky he didn’t shoot you himself!” He was so mad he couldn’t see straight. “I can’t believe you got Kizuna to help you with this.” By this time, Kame was shouting but it was the only way to get anything through that thick skull.
It seemed Jin was getting angry, too. He was up on his feet and crossing the room as he spoke, “You really think I would put them in danger like that, Kazuya? I knew I’d make it back fine but it had to be me. Only me. They had no idea. They still have no idea.”
“You went alone and you didn’t even tell anyone you were going?” Kame was just stunned.
Jin reached out for him but Kame was faster. Before he even realized he was doing it, he slapped Jin hard across the face. “W-what if something happened to you? You’d leave me like that? N-n-not a word, just d-disappear one day?” Great, now he was crying. But it was the truth of it. He didn’t care that Jin had disobeyed him. He was just scared of what could have happened. This wasn’t some overblown nightmare left over from his childhood trauma. Yasu said very explicitly that every member of Kizuna was kill-on-sight within JDA territory. It was literal cause-and-effect and Kame had every right to be both scared and angry over this.
Not letting the slap deter him one bit, Jin put his arms around Kame anyway, pulling him into a tight embrace. “Oh, Kazu-love…” and he stroked Kame’s hair gently, holding him while he cried. “Shh… It’s okay. I’m okay. I’m not leaving you and if I was, it would never be without a word like that. I wouldn’t have gone if I wasn’t sure I’d come home alive to you. I know I’m not as smart as you are but I wasn’t just being an idiot, I promise. I really did think long and hard about this, in my way.”
“You just like to be underestimated. You’re a lot smarter than you act and definitely a lot smarter than you tell people you are.”
Jin actually laughed at that which sort of miffed Kame because he meant it seriously. But then he sighed and said, “You can’t be both, you know. You really can’t.”
“Both?”
“Both my boss and my boyfriend. You have to pick one. It just won’t work otherwise.”
He had a point. For the most part, Kame didn’t like to see himself as a boss because he prized the freedom they all had, but when it came to their safety then he would put his foot down. That meant he was ultimately the boss after all. “Stop scaring me like this and I’ll stop trying to act like your boss. I don’t even go there alone, Jin. That man has no conscience.”
“Actually, he does. Not much of one but enough to respect you and what you do.”
“He mocks me for what I do, Jin. He doesn’t care.”
“I can’t really explain it but I know it’s true, Kazuya. He can’t show it but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true. But there are limits to it and I know if I go back, nothing in the world will keep that man from shooting me. I don’t have to, though. I got what we needed and I have to believe we’ll all be safer for knowing what’s on that tape.”
“What is on it? What does Papa K say?” Now that Kame was calming a bit, he was curious.
Jin shook his head. “I haven’t listened to it. There wasn’t time.”
“Well, I guess we’d better get dressed and go home so we can, then.”
“Hmm…” and Jin chuckled in that deeply lecherous way he was sooo good at. Taking advantage of the lack of both distance and clothing, he rubbed against Kame suggestively, “I think you’re forgetting something, Kazu-love…”
Kame moaned as he felt his body hardening with Jin’s touches. “Remind me, then…” he panted, letting his fingertips traced a teasing line down Jin’s spine. It still amazed him how much he desired Jin, that he even could desire Jin. “Quickly, though, because we’re about to lose the room…”
Wasting no more words, Jin lifted Kame up to sit on the small dresser. Jin rushed the preparation but it wasn’t unbearable when he pushed in and it didn’t take long before Kame was screaming Jin’s name. And even though the sex was brief, it was intense.
Sex with Jin always was, one way or another.

Chapter 100 ~The Parallel Chase~ A/N: Okay, there's a part of the intended conversation they were supposed to have but they just weren't being cooperative. On the other hand, the sex wasn't intended but it's also here because they weren't being cooperative. So you'll have to wait to find out more about Kame's inability to sleep outside the church office. I know you're probably wondering about that since he doesn't have the problem in the past!chapters. And I also originally intended to include some stuff related to the tape and then use all that to segue into time passing faster like it does sometimes in the past!chapters. But I decided that more detail on the tape's content would be better so it's all moved to Chapter 101.
Chapter 100 is going to be longer. I'll do my best to not make you wait too long for it.
