Title: Lose Me
Pairing: Jin x Kame
Rating: NC-17
Genre - Catch Me: AU, angst, romance, smut, drama, tragedy
Beta by: my cat. okay, seriously, nobody
Disclaimer: I don't own KAT-TUN, any of its members, any other JE people. I write this for fun and for other fans of these fine folks. But don't steal my plots, mmkay? I put a great deal of time into them except for when I'm randomly spastically spitting words onto a page. But I value those too...
Summary - Catch Me: A dramatic turn in his life throws Kame into Jin's college world. Almost immediately they notice an attraction, but they spend more time clashing than not.
Summary - Lose Me: Kame and Jin still have the occasional argument but mostly they live happily together. But when someone from Kame's past shows up, will the two be able to deal?
Warning: While "Catch Me" part is more towards the fluffy end of the scale at times, the other three parts have such things as drugs and murder and rape and all the fun parts of a bad neighborhood in a big city. Oh, and character death(s).

Lose Me
Seventh Cut ~Confession~
When Ueda kissed him, Jin seized the opportunity for distraction, clinging desperately like it could somehow fix everything. But then it was done. They were finished and Jin didn’t feel better. Actually, he felt worse. Nothing was fixed. His world was just as fucked.
Kame was just as much of a lying, cheating slut who strung him along with false confessions of love.
And now he felt twice as bad - once for what Kame did to him and once for taking advantage of Ueda like that. He didn’t even know his friend liked him that way. He must really be dense to have so much going on around him and not notice any of it.
Jin slept fitfully during the night and part of the next day. He tried to eat the food he had brought back to his room the night before but he just wasn’t all that hungry. There was nothing interesting on TV to distract him, either. All he could do was sit and think. Jin didn’t like that one bit.
Besides, as much as he might want to bury his head in the sand, Jin knew he should at least sit down to talk with Ueda. “Where r u?”
Ueda responded, “Bench outside library.”
So that’s where Jin went.
He was surprised at what he saw. “Damn, are you okay?” Jin said as he rushed to his friend’s side.
“Yeah, I’m fine. More angry than anything.” Sighing, Ueda added, “Does it really look that bad?”
“No, I’m sure that color purple is very ‘in’ this time of year… I can’t believe someone got the drop on you. Who were you fighting? Who punched you?”
The look Ueda shot him paralyzed him for a moment but Ueda’s words snapped him out of it. “I confronted Ryo.”
“Oh, for the love of…” Jin growled, “Why did you do that? You promised not to meddle!”
“I promised not to tell anyone Kame cheated.”
“It’s the same thing!” Jin insisted stubbornly. Ueda knew what he meant. Jin was sure of it.
“It’s not. Besides, I…” and suddenly Ueda was hesitant. Why? Jin already knew Ryo slept with Kame. Ueda knew he knew. What was the holdup? Why did Ueda look so… guilty?
“I didn’t think Kame cheated on you. Not exactly.”
“What?!” Jin was barely aware of the fact he had grabbed his friend by his shirt collar. “Explain, damn it!”
Ueda wouldn’t meet his eyes, for the first time Jin could recall. “I saw Kame in the kitchen before I came to your room last night. The way he was acting… I thought… well, he might have been raped. He freaked out, wouldn’t let me near him.”
Before Jin had registered enough of what Ueda said to stir up a powerful desire to choke the life out of him, Ueda continued in rapid-fire delivery, “But when I got to your room you were so sure and so I thought maybe I was wrong and then everything sort of happened. Then I felt guilty so I tried all morning to track Ryo down and when I finally found him, he admitted to drugging Kame. I was going to come to you but I wasn’t expecting the punch.”
“And then I got your text as I was coming around.”
The whole time Ueda was talking, Jin’s grip on his shirt tightened. Growling, Jin asked, “Where... Is... Ryo…?”
“Don’t know. Can’t breathe… Jin!” And Jin threw him down to the ground. While Ueda coughed, Jin rushed back to the dorm. First he’d find Kame and beg him to come back. Then he’d make Ryo pay. Maybe for good measure, he’d come back later and beat the shit out of Ueda, for sleeping with him even as he suspected Kame was raped.
Yeah, that sounded like a plan.
What was he going to say to Kame when he saw him again? He couldn’t even decide if he was still angry that Kame had lied. Well, of course he was angry, that’s not what he meant... But he felt guilty for kicking Kame out like he did. Who knows where he stayed that night, since it was obviously not with Ueda.
Jin realized he forgot to ask Ueda which room was Ryo’s. Maybe there was some clue in Kame’s bag he brought back from the library yesterday?
But when he got back to his own room, he found Kame was already there, in the bathroom. He walked over to knock on the bathroom door but something seemed off. He could hear Kame crying through the door, even over the sound of the water. But… that wasn’t it... Something…
Ah, that was it - too much steam coming out from underneath the door. How odd...
So he opened the door without knocking. A massive wall of steam hit him all at once. Kame couldn’t have been in there that long; there shouldn’t be so much steam.
He saw Kame sitting in the bathtub with the showerhead running. He was sobbing. Jin saw how Kame had scrubbed his arm hard enough that it was bleeding and how his back was completely red. Just how hot did Kame have that water?
Jin stuck his hand into the stream from the shower, only to jerk it back as the water burned it. “Kazu!” he shrieked, reaching over to turn off the water. Kame had been running just the hot side, on full blast. “Kazu, what are you doing?!”
Kame began rocking back and forth, hugging his knees to his chest. “I can still smell him… He won’t go away…” He started furiously scrubbing his arm again.
“Oh, god… Kazu…” Jin snatched the bath sponge away from him. “Kazu. Kazu! Stop!” And he put one hand on Kame’s shoulder and with the other hand he stroked Kame’s cheek. “Shh… You’re safe. He’s not here.”
Kame threw his arms around Jin’s neck, his whole body shaking. Jin picked him up, carried him out of the bathroom and, even though Kame was soaking wet, laid him gently on his bed. Pulling the blanket over him, Jin pushed Kame’s bangs back behind his ear. Before Jin could stand, Kame’s hand shot out from under the blanket to grab one of his wrists.
“No no nononono….” Kame whimpered as his grip around Jin’s wrist tightened.
Jin had never seen Kame like this. The Kame he knew was strong. Though he had been about to stand, Jin stayed sitting on the edge of the bed, stroking Kame’s cheek again with his free hand.
What exactly had happened the past three days? Maybe he should just ask. Or… was it better to just pretend nothing was wrong and wait for Kame to be comfortable enough to tell him on his own? Jin didn’t know. Either way, it would have to wait. He wasn’t going to get any answers tonight.
Despite the fact that both Kame and the blankets were wet, once Kame was asleep Jin crawled into bed behind him and held him as he slept.

Jin woke to the sound of Kame whimpering in his sleep. Looking over, he saw how red Kame’s face was. A hand to the forehead showed Kame was burning up. Yesterday evening, Jin assumed the heat he felt was residual from the hot water and steam, but that was hours ago.
Jin fetched a cold wet rag from the bathroom and put it on Kame’s forehead, while Kame slowly stirred awake.
In a low murmur, Kame said, “I’m sorry Jin… all my fault…”
“You’re sick, Kame. Worry about this later,” Jin replied.
“Not sick.”
“When was the last time you ate something?”
“Don’t remember,” Kame admitted tiredly.
“You don’t remember?”
Tears began falling down Kame’s face. “All my fault…”
“We don’t have to talk about this now.”
“Yes, now…. Please forgive me, Jin!” and Kame tried to sit up but apparently he didn’t have the strength so his head just fell back against the pillow.
Jin was worried about him. “Let me at least get you something to eat first and maybe some water?”
But Kame’s eyes were wild and it seemed like he hadn’t heard a word Jin said. “Please forgive me… I wasn’t strong enough to push him off me. I said no but he didn’t care.”
“Kame…?” That didn’t sound like he was drugged. It sounded more like he was just forced.
“He… drugged me but I don’t really remember.” There, Ueda had been right. Jin watched as Kame closed his eyes and took a deep breath before continuing, “Then he had the tape the next day and I had to but I didn’t want to so I tried to push him away but he’s stronger. And… and my body, it… when he… ”
A shudder went through Kame’s body. Jin opened his mouth to speak but closed it again as he realized he had no clue what to say. This was not what he’d expected to hear.
Kame continued, still weeping, “It’s all my fault… I’m so confused. I didn’t want it to. I didn’t want to react when he… Oh, god, I’m gonna be sick…” though the best Kame could do was roll over to lean off the bed before heaving.
“That’s it; I’m taking you to a doctor.”
Forty minutes later, at the clinic, Jin sat talking to the doctor. Beyond the doctor, an IV in his arm, lay a sleeping Kame. “What’s wrong with him?” Jin wanted to know.
The doctor asked, “When was the last time he ate?”
Jin sighed, “I’m not sure. I asked him the same question earlier this morning and he didn’t say. But I know he ate lunch three days ago at least.”
The doctor nodded. “Your friend is exhausted, dehydrated, and if I had to guess, hasn’t eaten since you last saw. Then there’s that arm… How did that happen? Has he experienced some trauma recently? He wasn’t very forthcoming.”
Nodding, Jin said, “Something like that.”
“His system needs a break. We’re giving him IV fluids and he can go home tomorrow morning. But he’ll need to rest for at least three more days. I can write a letter to the school to excuse him from classes for a few days. You’re his roommate, correct? You’ll make sure he eats and gets some sleep?”
Jin nodded.
“Okay, if you would help fill out this paperwork, I’ll get out of your way…”

Jin had spent most of the day watching over the sleeping Kame. He thought a lot about what Kame had said that morning. True, the younger boy had been somewhat delirious but Jin decided he believed him. He was still trying to piece together Kame’s feverish confessions, but he got the basic picture, at least.
Jin had always known how sensitive, how responsive, Kame’s body was. When the two of them made love, it was an amazing thing. It had never occurred to Jin that it could be used as a weapon against Kame, too, to make his sense of shame that much greater in order to keep him quiet about being raped. Jin couldn’t even imagine what it would be like for his own body to betray him.
Kame blamed himself, it seemed. Not only because he was physically not strong enough to fight off Ryo but also because his body had reacted on its own. And Kame had mentioned something about a tape. One of the first things on Jin’s list “Things to Do as Soon as I Get Back” was to find that tape and destroy it utterly.
And where was Jin during all of that? Fucking Ueda, the one who suspected and kept his mouth shut. His Kazu-chan needed him and he’d let him down. Not only had he failed to keep him safe; he’d also blamed him, too, for everything. What kind of protector was he?
Should he tell Kame about sleeping with Ueda? How did life get so confusing?
Jin sat by Kame’s side thinking about what to say while he waited for him to wake up. It was almost evening by the time he did.

Kame woke in a strange room. How had he gotten here? He remembered apologizing to Jin and then a sudden intense wave of nausea and then nothing.
Despite the dull ache in his head, he tried to sit up. Was that an IV in his arm?
“Don’t. The doctor said you had to rest.”
“Jin?”
“Who else would it be, silly?” Jin ruffled Kame’s hair affectionately. “You’ve got to take better care of yourself. Doctor’s orders.”
Kame let out a sigh of relief. Last time he woke up in a strange place, it had been Ryo’s room. A hospital he could deal with. He was safe in a hospital.
“Jin, are we… are we okay?” He couldn’t quite remember what he’d said that morning. It all seemed so far away.
Kissing Kame’s forehead like he used to, Jin said, “Kazu, I was wrong. I’m so sorry.”
Being called Kazu again by Jin and not Ryo, it felt so good. Somehow, Kame was both crying and laughing. “You called me Kazu… Nobody ever calls me that.”
“No good?” Jin smiled at him, carefully wiping his tears away.
“I like it. You can call me Kazu.” He laughed again. “But to everyone else, I’ll stay Kame!”
Jin was laughing with him but somewhere along the way it became a bit hysterical and then it transformed from a laugh into something else entirely. “None of this was your fault, Kazu-chan. I failed you. I failed to keep you safe.”
“Jin…” Kame said softly. He felt Jin’s hands close around his.
“Please forgive me. I’ll do a better job of taking care of you from now on, I promise.”
“Oh, Jin…”
