Cats, unsubscribing, and a military question

Jun 09, 2010 08:12

Gabe (my 9yo orange tabby boy) had surgery on his right ear Monday. $430 later he looks like he has a quilted strawberry for an ear. It's an improvement on the blimp the poor guy had masquerading as an ear all day Sunday. I'm still pissed that the vet wouldn't see him during office hours Saturday morning. I know they were booked and it wasn't life ( Read more... )

I don't really have an answer to the military question, but she might consider calling a local recruiter. They might be able to help her.

Janice's son in is the 82nd airborne. I am pretty sure she could pass letters through to him to be distrobuted through the kids. Next time I see her, I will ask - which should be this week.

And yay! for your kitty feeling betterish!

That'd be great, thanks! I need to emphasize -- it's a stretch to call them letters. (Though apparently one kid has gorgeous handwriting.) It's basically "fridge art from kids you don't know".

If the roommie hadn't retired, I'd say we could probably distribute thru her. And I can't think of anyone else that I know in the military atm...

What happened to his ear? I had a dog once that got ear mites (I didn't even realize...) and shook his head so much that he burst the blood vessels in them. It was like he had two furry golfballs instead of ears... Long story short, he ended up wearing the collar of shame with little viking-ish horns as bandages.

Oh, poor guy!

Yeah, Gabe keeps getting ear infections, won't stop shaking his head and then bursts the blood vessels in his ears. Just in one ear at a time, even though he's shaking his whole head. He ballooned up his left ear several times and now that it's mostly scar tissue, it's the right ear's turn. He's got the cone, and his ear is stitched directly to a thick pad of gauze.

I asked the vet about mites, but she said there aren't any. She thinks his ear infections might be linked to a food allergy, which is a connection I'd have never made. I'm transitioning the whole herd to a prescription food (that costs about $5/lb for dry, eek) to see if that helps.
