Item: I haven't done this in a while, but I decided to purchase a betta from a breeder in Thailand via Aquabid. It sounds scary, but given my past experiences, it tends to work out very well-meaning the fish arrive alive and healthy in spite of having been sent overnight through the post. At this point, our tank has got five kuhli loaches (Avanyu ( Read more... )

I hope the good weather holds for them. It would be so sad to say, 'If only you could have come 2 weeks ago...' They probably wouldn't believe you. :)

It's actually shockingly organized - the French transhipper has already been in touch, and the Thai breeder was very prompt to respond when I bought the fish! If you look at the feedback, the number of successful transactions and how few the occurrences of fish dead on arrival are, etc., it's so impressive.

Mail-fish. O__o It's a crazy world we live in.

Hope everything turns out alright! (Also, I love that you have a fish named Scylla. So apt. :3)

I'll post a picture of the betta we're getting in a minute :)

Well, the kuhli loaches are very serpent-like, so it's a good reason for why two of them are named after mythical water-serpents from other cultures (Avanyu = Hopi/Tewa mythology; and then, obviously, Scylla).

Oh, I hadn't heard of Avanyu! I'll have to look into Hopi/Tewa mythology, since a brief wiki scan reveals I know nothing about it. Yay random research topics! :D
