Now I feel bad......

We've all done it.  Seen a movie, read a book, or a comic and then complained.   I know I have.  There are rants on this LJ that are mildly impressive, even.

Yet, when I go on the various forums one can find around the interwebs, I cringe.  Why?  Because people are complaining?  Wellllll.....in part.  More it's WHAT they are complaining about.  ( Read more... )

rant, comics

This. Times a million.

The sheer amount of whining in fandom is enough for me to wonder what there lives *outside* of fandom look like.

I love comics and I too get frustrated with the direction things go in sometimes, but honestly? I'm too exhausted with, you know, *REAL LIFE* to let it effect me as much as it seems to effect fan-boys/girls.

Well put.

Thanks :)

And yes, real life is taking up most of MY time. I read my comics, I write my fan fics and I lurk in comicbook forms but really, these are escapes from RL for me. AS such they are supposed to be FUN. So when they are painful instead it's time to re-evaluate ^_^;;

I just don't understand why anyone would be HAPPY being so uber serious about petty stuff. Yet many are.

I am not a serious fan-creature, and this is one of the main reasons.

I'm glad fandom gives people a safe space to vent. Maybe it's satisfying to have something to complain about without being expected to do anything to fix it. Maybe it's satisfying to feel like an expert, like you have the right to decide what should or should not happen. I guess it may be mentally healthy for the people involved, but I sure don't want to read it.

Sorry to drop in like this after fading away into an internet ghost.

Eeeeeek! Am internet ghost! Run! Flee! FEAR!!!!! :P

How are you doing luv? Haven't seen you in AGES.

It took me a while, but I've learned to let those types of fanbrats to their own devices. I have far better things to do with my energy these days :)

OoOoOoOo....

I'm doing all right. I've been less fannish lately. How are you?

Exactly! I'm here for stress-relief and to have fun. If it isn't fun, why do it?

Your icon is hysterical.

Thanks! The very talented CrimsonHorror let me turn one of her images into an animated Icon :)

Less Fannish?! But JASON!!!!! And not written by Morrison! Even if I spend a lot of time wondering why people keep calling Roy "Jason" :P
