Authors Notes:  This is my effort to reconcile Jason’s “revelations” in B&R5.  This is all me and probably has no relevance to wherever Morrison is going with things.

He sits before the mirror, frowning.  A small part of him wants it noted that he’s doing it way to much.  No, not that frowning.  The mirror.  It’s his face, but not his face.  Hell, he’d had to dye his hair back to its goddamn proper color.  The stark black had just...it wasn’t him.  No, that belonged to the other, to the one that had come to his universe, wearing his face and was still alive.

For one restless, ginger haired spirit, it was a dream come true.  Eternity as a ghost really sucks.  So how could he possibly have been expected to pass up such an opportunity?

Slipping into the new comer’s body hadn’t been hard.  But taking over, oh that had been time consuming.  He’d tried simply overwhelming the other and taking control.  It had been a disaster, resulting in a world class headache for the both of them.  Unwilling for a repeat of that one, he began the slow process of insinuating himself and his wants into the other’s thought processes.  Sadly that hadn’t accomplished more than influencing what clothes were worn or what foods craved.

His host’s will remained very strong, very problematic.  So when something happened to compromise that will-in the form of a message from Bruce-he seized the opportunity, seeping in through the cracks that formed and stuffing the other personality down deep where it could whimper it’s pain and leave him alone.  Free.

Once he was in control of his new body, then things got fun.  That Bat suit with the guns had been sweet, almost as powerful as his old Robin suit and magical in its own right.  Empowering.

What he’d seen of this world and how they treat their Jason, it became clear that his own “family” thought him a villain, so why not be that?  He could be a villain that hunts other villains.  And if the other heroes got in his way, well too bad for them.

It’s his world now and he will clean it up his way.

drabble, jason
