My BF is VERY anti-Supers.  I mean EXTREMELY.  He hates them ALL.  He's utterly convinced that Bats only has utter contempt for Superman

Exactly! But he's adamant that Bats is just being civil at the best of times and really has no use for the "blunt insturment."
