You're not the only one out for blood Hon. People at my school are livid. The fact that he has no problem discriminating against a large portion of the population makes me see red. Didn't we make laws against discrimination and "separate but equal" treatment years ago? What happened to those? Apparently those laws don't apply to Bushie.

^ Hear Hear!

I can't believe this ass is trying this on. Actually I can. I wonder how the plans to get around the fact that a basic principle of the constitution is the separation of Church and State. He has no right impose his religious beliefs on the rest of the country.

The founding fathers must be turning in their graves.

On the plus side he needs 2/3 in each chamber and 3/4 of states - Hopefully one of those groups will tell him where to shove his amendment.

I totally agree that the founding fathers are turning in their graves. This is exactly the kind of thing they wanted to protect against. Church ideals simply are not the same as civic ideals. I have no problem with churches not allowing gays to marry, it's their beliefs and their dogma, but they have no right to dictate civil law.

I'm really hoping the ammendment won't pass. But I have faith that if it does, it won't last long because the court system won't allow a discriminatory law. Prohibition didn't last, and neither will this.

Unfortunately, the religious right is a pretty powerful force in this country. I'm really hoping that the elections go well for us, but I have some serious fear about the fundamentalists' power.

Exactly, Scotty. Grrr. The Constitution is intended to ensure, protect and expand upon the individual liberties of the American people rather than form some sort of platform for those seeking to impose their religious views upon the nation. Funny that Bush seems to have missed that somewhere along the way.

Absolutely. Our country prides itself on freedom and the large number of civil liberties we have, and yet people like Bush have no problem taking all the liberties and freedoms for themselves and declaring others not fit to enjoy the same priviledges. Gee...Didn't we have a problem with a ruler a while ago who wanted certain people to have all kinds of priviledges and yet others were forced to pay huge taxes and live second-class lives? Somewhere around the late 1700's? Also named George? Oh yeah, that would be why we have our own country now.
