Betas and Everybody Else’s FAQ
· I don’t have a 10,000 word fic in me at the moment or any artistic talent. Can I still get in on the fun?
When it comes to tea parties and big bang challenges, the more the merrier. We need people to give advice to and cheerlead for the authors. We will also need people to promote this community and the challenge with other communities-shout it from the rooftops, my friends. Finally, we will need people to enjoy these amazing collaborative works between authors and artists, and they will be released for your consumption at the beginning of December.
OR, would you like to be a beta? Hmm?
· I want to get a sneak peek at one of these promising fics. I want to be a beta reader!
These projects are top secret unless you happen to be one of the beta readers-reason enough to volunteer. Beta signups begin on October 1st and end October 24th. As a beta reader you might be asked to help with plot, grammar, or research. You might provide a shoulder to cry on or a kick in the pants.
· Do I need to sign up as a beta if I already agreed to beta my friend Alice Liddell’s fic?
Authors who already have a beta will indicate this upon signup, so you won’t need to signup. The signup is only for people who want to help out and haven’t already attached themselves to an author. You can still signup for another fic, but remember that the minimum length of these fics will be 10,000 words. I might not offer to beta five of these suckers.
