So I was actually kinda thinking of cutting back on the upgrades; just pumping up my raw processing power (which is severely lacking at the moment), and using my current video card. Wouldn't you know? It picks a perfect time to start dying. It also diagnosed itself: after playing games for roughly half an hour, the textures start repeating ( Read more... )

I'm sure you can make it last; the level of care you'll have to take depends on how badly you suspect your card is doing. I once had one that was literally melting, and it was to the point that drawing more than a couple of windows would crash the system. Try to reduce the load on the card by not playing games, using a low resolution with a plain background, and keeping draws low. Disable any superfluous video effects that might cause the card to do any work.

I really hope it doesn't go out! Can't you use your mother's computer or something? I'd miss you for a month. ;;

Her computer runs out of memory before it finishes booting. No thanks. :P

But I don't think it's my video card anymore; it's only been doing this since I turned my paging file off. Guess it uses more memory than I thought. :/ But turning off all other programs seems to work, so it could just be a lack of memory? Hoping it is. @__@

Yeah, I really don't think it's a good idea to turn off paging. If you suspect that the problem is memory, are you going to turn the paging file back on?

No. XD I already can't stand how slow it makes everything. I'll just settle with stripping my processes for now. :D
