God! I was wondering when you would get round to that little gem of a fact, that there were only three snipers must have hurt Mycroft more than anything, the poor, poor man! Oh how I wish he would talk to Greg and tell him how he feels, but I guess that he is trying, it is just difficult! I hope Sherlock turns to him for help like he did in the original stories, please?

I am in awe of your Mycroft, thank you for sharing him!

Yeah. Sherlock will come to him, but I'm just trying to figure out how to have that come about. Mycroft and Greg have a few things to work out and I cannot just leave them like this.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments! <3

So that comment didn't really come out right, as you can probably see from your email this is an updated version of it.

I've not been able to Not think about the continuation of your fic, I'm no good at writing myself, but I sometimes can't help imagining how a situation could be resolved, especially with stories like this where it is difficult to wait for the next instalment. So I've tried to imagine how Sherlock could/would explain the three snipers to Mycroft, and I think I've made sense of it, I'm very much looking forward to see if season three will deal with it at all...

So what I really wanted to say was this, I don't want to just barge in with 'advice', but on the other hand I'm happy to share my thoughts, I'm really looking forward to seeing your take on this situation, but if you need someone to discuss ideas with, then I'd be happy to help.

Sharing opinions is not barging in with advice, but I know what you mean!

Thanks for the offer that I will take you up on!

Wow. I don't know what to say. This is beautiful and heart-wrenching. What really struck me is the way in which Mycroft is worse off than everyone else because he doesn't know what has become of Sherlock -- if he truly escaped and is safe. Then, of course, as lygtemanden pointed out, Mycroft has to deal with the knowledge that Sherlock might not love him, as there was no sniper targeting him. I actually assumed that Moriarty didn't bother because he figured that he wouldn't be able to get anyone close enough to Mycroft to take him out (given the kind of security and protection Mycroft would have at his disposal), but your theory certainly works as well. Maybe Moriarty thought that Sherlock didn't love Mycroft as he never seemed to show it. Well, here's hoping that lygtemanden is right and Sherlock will turn to Mycroft for help as he did in canon.

I can understand what you mean about Moriarty not trying for Mycroft, but Sherlock didn't even think of Mycroft when he listed his friends for Moriarty.

I agree that Mycroft is in a worse situation, at least in my head, because he doesn't know what's become of his brother and he cannot share that with anyone else because he's just not sure what's happening.

In the next, much longer, multi-chaptered part, Sherlock will turn to Mycroft. I'm just trying to figure out when in my timeline.

Thank you for your lovely comment! <3

Actually, what we know is Sherlock doesn't NAME Mycroft. We have no evidence he didn't think of him. My assumption, until the show proves me wrong, is that Sherlock leaves Molly and Mycroft as names he doesn't mention, because he knows Mycroft and Molly are in a position to get things done that can help him. If Jim ignores them, they can do what they need to do, undetected.

Nice little story, I don't like slash, but I adore Mycroft centric stories most of the time. Personally, we always see stories where Sherlock turns to Mycroft for help. But what if he didn't? What if it were to turn out that Lestrade were helping Sherlock instead?
I don't know. Just thinking out loud. Could be someone other than Lestrade, John, even. Just makes the confrontation between the brothers all the more angsty.
