Thank you very much for taking the time to read and offer so many suggestions! I've already fixed some of what you pointed out, and the feedback was quite helpful.

Some of the things you suggested that I change were conscious choices on my part. In case you're interested...

I didn't want to use an ellipse or a dash to indicate an unfinished thought or interruption because I didn't want the reader to have any warning that an interruption was coming. I wanted it to be abrupt and harsh, with a train of thought still slightly unfinished, just like a real interruption.

As for rifle vs. riffle, they are actually two differenat words, even though many peoploe have begun to use "rifle" to mean the same thing as "riffle."

Thank you again for pointing out what you noticed. It's always helpful to know how a reader has responded to what I've done!
