I've had various ideas floating around in my head. None of them are coherent enough for a journal entry of their own, or deserve that much space, but if I don't get them out I'll forget them:
>>death itself doesn't scare me. I sometimes find myself taking comfort in the idea that this is it. I have this life to do with as I please, and then my consciousness ends when my brain stops functioning. The record of my being here is the one I create and leave behind. And even that is temporary. ... What does scare me is the pain that so often precedes. <<
I feel EXACTLY the same way.
I'm not afraid of death. I'm not afraid "what if this is ALL we get?". I'm afraid of being in much pain, the death-throws, the long drawn out diseases. When people say in a movie "The worst you can do is kill me" and then the villain says some cliche about "No no, the worst I can do is make you WISH I had killed you"... THAT is scary, even if the line is cliche. The idea of being tortured TO DEATH? ::cringe:: But yeah...
This is why I fear aging. Age means more pains in the body heh
I thought of you today, because of one of your fears. There was a special on them on Animal Planet. Yeah, really, I don't blame you; they're scary!
See! It doesn't take a movie like Jaws. It takes learning what sharks are like. Did it just focus on the ones like bull sharks that you generally get along the shore and great whites, or did it get into some of the weirder (and scarier) varieties out there?
It did reef sharks which weren't that bad, hammerheads which also weren't that bad, great whites which are ALWAYS scary, but the worst I felt were the lemon sharks. OMG, do not want to be in the water with them! They apparently will take a nibble out of ANYTHING just because. They're called the trash cans of the ocean ugh
