Because I know I wasn't the only one concerned - my beloved zarah5's journal has been hacked, and her personal information changed to the point that she's not sure the damage can be undone. Jen, would you please consider adding an ETA to this post advertising LJ-Archive? It's a free program that allows you to backup your LJ and save all posts/comments to your hard drive. http://sourceforge.net/projects/ljarchive/. They are also then re-postable using LJ-Sec: when I switched to IJ, I transferred my entire LJ content, lock, stock, and two smoking barrels. It's waaaaaaay easier than people think, and the benefits clearly far outweigh the costs.
If you yourself haven't backed up your journal, please consider doing so. I'm backing up mine right now, even though there hasn't been any inkling of a hit on IJ. Better safe than sorry, y'know? I can't believe someone would DO something like that!

Also, there's a link to a program that might help Mac users. AFAIK, LJ-archive only works for PC? I should note that LJ-archive really only saves your LJ to your computer. If you want to transfer one journal's content to another, you can use LJ-Sec. http://www.mp3vcr.com/ljsec/
