Oh this is all kinds of brilliant and amazing, and definitely answered a lot of things I had been curious about. So many great tips and tricks and I love how thoroughly you explained it all, with examples and settings and everything. I'm particularly impressed with your photo filter + h/s technique, damn those results are amazing! Also, I adore and envy your 'more is less' texture use. It's just fantastic. I'm totally a 'more is more' texture user but wish I had the patience to build the textured look in small steps like you, that's something I really need to try. Another thing I need to fiddle with is that auto mask thingy, I can definitely see how much more gorgeous it made the colorings, especially in that third example which has amazed me for ages and now I know how you did (part of) it so yay

Success! I'm super, super glad you enjoyed reading this, and found the tips to be useful! I was worried about everything being a little random (because let's be honest, everything I make in PS is random!) but that doesn't seem to be the case so yay!
This. is. amazing. I love how detailed and specific it is. And I learned something new - Color Range! I'm sooo going to play with that the next time I open Photoshop, lol.
I'm super glad you found this useful - and hopefully colour range is as fantastic a tool for you as it is for me! I really find it a lot of fun to play with.
