FIRSTLY, VARIATIONS IS THE BEST. THE ABSOLUTE BEST.
I don't know why everyone doesn't use them, to be honest. Anyway, just wanted to give that fantastic tool a little shout out, and I am super glad you've been playing around with them.

Secondly, I actually have (and have used) a texture from this tutorial. I feel kind of special now. I didn't use it as creatively as you (and can I just praise you for doing something cool with a texture with writing on it as well? Because, wow, I wouldn't have even thought to play with a texture with words on it in such a way!), but still. Something I recognized. XD

Because I’m brave, I’m erasing from the actual layer
I actually lol'ed for real at this point. That is brave though. I'm all about my layer masks. And, alternatively, using my layer masks as textures, la te da~

Black and White <-- WHAT IS THIS? WHAT DOES IT DO, JESS? I MUST KNOW. Is this something I can play with now?

Another fun and wonderful tutorial, bb. <3

VARIATIONS <3
I will forever love that you reintroduced me to them. Everyone and their mother should embrace variations as the best tool ever!

TEXTURES. I love that texture so much. I've used it so often I've lost track. Actually, I think these days I only play with textures after I've inverted them, I KID YOU NOT. I think, 'Oh that's awesome, but I want to use it for completely different colours'... yeah.

For a reason unknown to me, I did not embrace layer masks for this icon. I HAVE NOW THOUGH! I appreciate them muchly!

OMG. OMG. YOU WILL LOVE BLACK AND WHITE! Basically, its instant gradient. AND THEN IT HAS FILTERS. To play with the contrast depending on the colours in the image. It's in the Layers toolkit and it is AMAZING and I am basically never using b&w gradients again to make b&w. I THINK YOU WILL LOVE IT IN ALL ITS GLORY!

Thank you ♥

Amazing tutorial, but it is so long. Can you share a psd please? (:

Unfortunately, the meme this was written for expressly forbids us from providing psds with the tutorial, as a form of encouragement to learn from the tutorials rather than replicate their colouring mindlessly. I have provided images of how the layers looked with my psd however, which I believe will act in the same manner if you did intend to read and learn from the tutorial.
