So I don't know how many folk are familiar with the (unsupported by research) claims that vaccines cause autism. But it's taken a new turn; in the UK, a group called the Canine Health Concern are demanding that the government investigate risks to pets from vaccines, because they're concerned about vaccines potentially causing autism in their dogs.Read more... )

I don't know about autistic dogs, but I do know that Narcissistic Personality Disorder is very common in cats. ;)

Dogs are more likely to have Attention Deficit Disorder. Especially in the presence of other dogs.

Considering multiple studies have confirmed that there is no link between autism and vaccines in humans, the lack of one in pets is not the least bit surprising.

Seriously the people running around fanning the flames of public delusion about vaccines and autism should be wearing tin foil hats. If they're visibly identifiable I can stay the hell away from them and their unvaccinated plague-ridden offspring. These people are a risk to the health of the entire population.

Temple Grandin. Worth a read - her book 'Animals in Translation: Using the Mysteries of Autism to Decode Animal Behavior' is fascinating.

And by her thoughts, if a dog had 'autism' it'd be functionally paralyzed, so... thinking the foil caps need to go back on some heads.
