Some thoughts on The Eye, and certain anti-Sugar Rush morons.

I watched The Eye earlier - great film. ^__^ Beautifully shot & atmospheric, with a decent balance of creepiness & emotion. I also love the clever little "blink-and-you'll-miss-them" moments, such as the scene on the train (see the content below the LJ-cut for more ( Read more... )

I don't know the movie but I wanted to say I liked reading your review. AND the 'old lady' bit you mentioned made me think of the old lady bit in The Others. Cuz you know it's coming and it's not so scary but gets me every time.

Reminded me of that time we were watching it at my house both under that blanket and we BOTH jumped and hid our faces. lol Fun times.

Lol, that bit in The Others gets me every time. It's not just the jump moment that scares me, it's also the way you hear the sound of her breathing suddenly come in.

The "Old Lady" scene in The Eye is somewhat different, though. Basically, the main character, Mun, is resting in hospital after having a cornea transplant to cure her of the blindness that she has suffered from since she was about two. During one night at the hospital, she is of course unable to see properly, due to the fact that her operation was fairly recent and she's still allowing her eyes to get used to everything, so she sees everything as blurs and shapes ( ... )

...and I just realised that the link doesn't work XDD Oh well.

And ignore what I said about it being the same old lady. I noticed that it isn't, upon viewing the film for a second time.

I love that film, it's one of only a few that really creeped me out while I was watching it. Especially the elevator bit, I kept squirming when it was getting closer and closer :S. And I hadn't heard about the face on the train window bit before seeing it, so I wasn't sure if I'd imagined it or not.
