Punching the bag that was hanging from the cealing, she couldn't help but feel hurt. They knew... knew who took her... an offering... nothing more than an offering for someone. Was her whole childhood a lie? Was her whole life a lie ( Read more... )

From his position in the Main Temple, Mister Smith suddenly felt Aille's anger and turmoil as acutely as if the punches she landed on the exercise bag had been aimed at his heart. With a gasp of surprise, he nearly dropped the ceremonial cup he'd been holding. Setting it down on the alter with shaking hands, he mumbled an apology to the pilgrim who had come to seek audience with Bliss. He walked quickly to the door that lead into the garden and only began to run when he was clearly out of sight of the worshiper ( ... )

He pulled her close and wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight against him. Wanting her to feel safe with his arms. Wanting to know that she was real and here and his. "What's that old saying?" he mused. "Everything happen for a reason?" Sighing, he brushed his cheek against hers. "Sometimes the reason sucks. Well, maybe most of the time. But sometimes, something good comes out of it, too. If things had been different. If you'd grown up with Cupid and Psyche and Bliss? We might never have met. Or we may have anyway. We'll never know." His hazel eyes darkened to green; a subtle change. "But it should have been your choice, not anyone elses."

"We'll never know... but I would have liked the choice to be mine... Not that a child of my age could have made that choice... If I was to be fostered out, that should have been the choice of my parents. Not a man that wasn't even of the same land."

Taking a deep shuttering breath, she then whipped at her eyes, "I wouldn't change anything, if it means I would have never met you... but still..." It was funny how should to think clearer with Smith there.

"But still," he agreed, kissing one of those tears from her cheek. "No child should be torn from it's mother. No child should be deprived of knowing its family."

And worse, to be made an 'offering' to some faceless thing by a vile creature masquerading as a wizard that legend said was basically good at heart. Apparently, Merlin was the one writing the histories!

But of one thing he was certain, if this feeling in his heart and soul was any indication. "I think, somehow, we'd have found each other. No matter what. No matter where."

"No one will ever remove our children from us. It will be their choice to leave and only when they are old enough to make said choice." and even then she may fight to keep them home.

Giving him a real smile for the first time since he'd walked in the room, "I think we would have also beloeved. You are the other half of my soul..." her eyes locked on his.

"Only by their choice and theirs alone," he agreed.

He met her gaze with his own, filled with love and adoration. "One soul, my goddess," he said and softly kissed her lips.
