Eccleston is a remarkable actor, isn't he? Watching him in whatever he does is always a sometimes fraught treat, as he draws me in to whoever he is. I, too, watched the GI Joe movie, or at least the parts with him in them, merely because he dwas in them. The Lennon movie was disappointingly written, but he kept it going.
When it comes to Eccleston as a person, I think he's an intensely ethical man who sometimes buries his very real sense of humor beneath perhaps a little too much narrow-eyed moral measurement (moral in a "the center must not fall apart" sense, if you see what I mean). But he's incisively intelligent and definitely a man you want on your side.
Oh, the sex-on-legs part? Yes. Yes, he is, isn't he? The eyes, the eyes ... the cheekbones, that voice and ... did I mention the eyes? (And when his hair is long, I melt that much more

I actually haven't watched GI Joe yet. I watched his scenes in Heroes, and A Price Above Rubies, and those were bad enough.
About the 50th: I can also easily believe that the more people tried to tell CE he had an *obligation* to be part of it, the more determined he became not to do it.

Yup. If I'd been tasked with convincing him, I would never have used any language that suggested obligation, nor used the word, nor anything that sounded like it. I just might have said "if you could, you'd make a lot of people happy. If not, I understand."

Being British, did you know CE from other television roles before Doctor Who?
