“I am such a loser.” Kyuhyun huffed as he plopped down on the chair next to his best friend.
“At least you had one dance. I’m loser-er.” Sungmin pouted as he clenched his fists in frustration.
“As if you didn’t know already. Dancing is so not my thing. Did you see the look on Seohyun’s face when I stepped on her feet? God it was so embarrassing!” Kyuhyun face palmed.
“What look? I was pretty sure she was still smiling the first time. She scowled a little on the second time. She bit her lip the third time. On the fourth--“ Sungmin’s words were cut-off when Kyuhyun smacked him square in the head.
“I get it! I get it! You don’t need to rub salt on my wound.” Kyuhyun said in mock hurt.
The both of them fell silent as they turned their attention to the dance floor wherein their batch mates were having fun. Donghae and Hyukjae were having a dance battle to the tune of Oppa Has Risen as their other friends cheered them on.
“Why don’t we have dates again!?” Sungmin hissed, finally fed up with just observing.
“You’re gay, remember? And Lee seonsaeng said no same sex couples as dates. As for me… Nah, let’s not talk about it.” Kyuhyun muttered in reply, shrinking in his seat as Sungmin glared at him upon the reminder of his sexual orientation.
The disco music soon faded into a mellow song entitled Because of Love. Kyuhyun fidgeted in his seat as he side-eyed Sungmin who was staring at his punch glass as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.
“Would you like to--“ Both simultaneously said, immediately blushing as they caught each other’s eye.
It was halfway through the song when Kyuhyun decided to man up, figuratively speaking. If this worked, he was to become the man in the relationship anyway.
“Sungmin-ah, would you like to dance…with me?” Kyuhyun murmured shyly, bowing his head low as he extended a hand to Sungmin.
“I’d love to Kyu. I’d love to.” Sungmin smiled as he squeezed Kyuhyun’s hand in his.
All is well.

Kyuhyun scowled as he eyed his pet. Sungmin was curled up in a ball on his bed - eyes squeezed shut as he trembled. Kyuhyun gently sat on the bed next to him - placing the back of his hand on Sungmin’s forehead to check his temperature. He quickly retracted his hand as Sungmin flinched from his touch - probably due to the cold.
“Minnie you’re burning up!” Kyuhyun uttered worriedly as he tucked in the sheets tighter over his pet’s frail body.
Sungmin cracked an eye open to check who has interrupted his sleep - his lips twitching upward when he realized that it was just Kyuhyun, his owner.
Kyuhyun almost cooed at how cute his pet was being. He brought his hand to scratch at Sungmin’s ear. Sungmin purred contentedly and nuzzled into Kyuhyun’s hand - affectionately licking the latter’s lanky fingers from time to time.
Kyuhyun slid under the blanket and pulled Sungmin close to his side - sharing his body warmth. Sungmin burrowed in deeper and placed his head on the crook of Kyuhyun’s neck - his whiskers rough on Kyuhyun’s cheeks but the latter didn’t mind.
They stayed like that for a while in companionable silence. Kyuhyun was about to doze off when he felt that Sungmin’s temperature didn’t alleviate itself.
He gently nudged Sungmin, awakening the feline. Sungmin rubbed his paws over his eyes and stared at his owner curiously.
“C’mon Min. Let’s get you a bath. It’ll bring your temperature down.” Kyuhyun reached a hand to Sungmin, the latter extending his paw in return and let himself be led to the bathroom.
Kyuhyun thinks it’s funny how people say that cats hate water. They love water! Or at least, Sungmin does.
