This Haiti thing really bothers me. They talk about it so much and there's so much going on to try and help them because America wants to make themselves look better while nothing is done for other disasters like the Chinese earthquake.

Why the hell is there such a need for so many photographers and paying so much just go to there?! I'm sure there's been enough already. I never got that, if something like that happened to me, I'd be fucking pissed at whoever's taken a picture of me when I've just emerged from rubble or something.

Wow, I hadn't heard of that..seems like people will go any length to make money, even if that means exploiting suffering of others.

My school's hosting a photography gallery where each person pays £1 to have their work in the gallery and other people can buy prints of their work..all the money goes to charity for Haiti. I think it's a better way to help them than these other photographers 'helping' them.

I'd like to add more to this, but you've summed up my exact feelings perfectly. :|

It's so difficult with photojournalism. At the end of the day, it comes down to morals and everyone has a line that they won't cross. Unfortunately, some people have next to no morals, as your links show...

When I went to India, some of the people I were with took lots of photos of beggar children etc. and I just couldn't do it myself...

I totally agree with you. Please at least tell me the $1500 goes to Haitians in need? At least that would make it somewhat understandable. Instead, it seems to me like a resume builder for photo-journalists.
