So I was talking to someone today (who shall remain nameless to protect her own identity), and I mentioned my French pen pal. No big deal. I've had this pen pal for 3 years or so, and she's a really lovely person. (I call her a pen pal because we do emails from time to time and the occasional thoughtful gift

Yeah, I can understand that annoyance. I think if someone had asked me that I'd have said ans so what if she is. Are people really so shallow that everything has to be about sex these days? I'm sure there's some sort of fear, jealousy or something behind that line of questioning. Just weird.

It was weird, and I let it annoy me the rest of the weekend. I didn't write in full depth just how odd it was. It think it was the sum of this person's fears and ignorance. Also, I think it more telling about her that her mind automatically went to "Lesbians!" as a first recourse.

That makes no sense. French and female . . . so what? Um . . . that's all that tells me - French and female. And, who cares if she's a lesbian, anyway? Why care?
