"Wishes" (Yugioh, YamixYugi, #22)

Oct 13, 2006 20:14

Wow, three in one day!! (Well now we all know what I was writing all those times we were supposed to be watching movies in Parenting...>3)

Title: Wishes
Author: Me! xD!
Pairing: YamixYugi
Fandom: Yugioh
Rating: G for Yugi fluff~
Theme: #22 "People wish upon stars because one day, they hope that those wishes will come true."
Summary: Even if his wish is impossible, Yugi awaits the first star every night.
Disclaimer: So many rules! Ack! I cannot work under these harsh conditions!

“Where’s Yugi?”

“In his room.”

“He’s been spending an awful lot of time in there…what do you think he’s doing?”

“Who knows? But he always vanishes at this time every night. Kind of strange.”

“Whenever I walk in he’s never doing anything, just sitting by his window.”

“Maybe he’s waiting for someone. Don’t laugh! You never know.”

“Well either way, it’s dinnertime. I’ll go get him.”

Yugi’s eyes searched the skyline intently. Legend said it had to be the first star. The first star he saw, or the wish wouldn’t come true. He didn’t have a broken Puzzle to wish on anymore, now it was hanging around his neck in a solid, completed piece, and Yugi needed something new to wish on.

“C’mon star…where are you…?”

And then he saw it, a tiny sparkling light just above a building in the distance. He gazed at it for a moment, then closed his eyes.

“I wish-“

“Yugi?” His door was flung open, and Yugi turned to see his mother standing there. “It’s dinnertime. What are you doing?”

“Nothing. Just thinking.” He started to get up. “I’ll be down in a minute.”

“Okay, hurry up. You don’t want to eat cold food.” She turned and walked off.

Instantly Yugi stopped getting up, his eyes went back to the star and then down at the Puzzle. His fingers settled on the cold metal. So close…everything he wanted, close enough to touch, but never reach. He was momentarily lost in a sudden swirl of emotions.

“Yugi!” His mother called from below, sounding impatient.

Quickly, Yugi turned back to his window, took a deep breath, and murmured, holding the Puzzle in both hands, his eyes trained on the star, “I just wish that he’d love me someday…the way I love him.”

“YUGI!”

“Coming!!” He turned away and jogged toward the door, and paused a moment to smile at the Puzzle and the person he knew was someplace inside it, before switching off the lights and hurrying downstairs. It had taken a long time before the Puzzle granted his first wish. He didn’t expect this one to be any different. He didn’t even really expect it to ever come true, he just wished because it made him feel not quite so helpless. Honestly, the thought that his wish would work out was laughable, it really was, and he told himself that often.

But he waited for that first star every night anyway…just in case.
