“Hey…that’s her! Isn’t that her?”
“Yami…”
“Tell me! Is it her?!”
Yugi sighed in exasperation. “Yes.”
“I knew it was her! Yugi- just let me-“
“No!”
“But it’s her!”
“Yami, stop it, you’re making a scene.”
He glowered at the girl across the mall. “She called you a loser.”
“Yes, I’m very familiar with the story.”
“She made you cry.”
“Only a little bit.”
“Just let me go talk to her! You deserve an apology!”
“Only when I can afford to bail you out of jail will I allow that.” Yugi tugged at his arm. “Ignore Risa, Yami. I never even had a real relationship with her anyway, and I’ve got no hard feelings. Come on, look over here, they have your favourite low-rise jeans on sale!”
Reluctantly Yami let himself be pulled away. But fifteen minutes later, as Yugi turned around to ask Yami’s opinion of a design, he found his partner mysteriously missing. Shouts in the distance revealed where he’d vanished to. Yugi took off at a jog. Oh boy…
“YOU HAD NO RIGHT-“
“This isn’t any of your business!”
“HOW DARE YOU CALL YUGI STUPID-“
“Will you just calm down?!”
“CALM DOWN?! YOU WANT ME TO-“
“Yami!” Yugi skidded to a stop, reaching for him. “Risa, I’m sorry…Yami, it’s alright, let’s go-“
“Hey…I heard you’d gotten together with a guy. So is this the new boyfriend?” Risa studied him.
Yami glared back acidly, snarling. “Apologize to Yugi!”
Yugi, who had been purposely steering Yami out of Risa’s way at school for weeks to avoid this very situation, broke in. “Yami, please, this isn’t important, I don’t need her to say anything-“
“Tell him you’re sorry for saying those things and for hurting him and for making him cry!”
Risa hesitated.
“APOLOGIZE TO HIM NOW!”
“Alright, alright…Yugi, I’m sorry about what I said. I’m sorry if it hurt you.”
“Apology accepted,” Yugi nodded. “Yami, she said she was sorry, now can you drop this…?”
Mumbling to himself, Yami pulled free of Yugi’s grasp and stalked off across the mall to tell off some bystanders that had paused to watch the fight.
“He’s crazy,” Risa shook her head, laughing. “You picked a crazy one.”
Yugi smiled fondly at the young man as the bystanders scattered. “Nah, he’s not crazy. He’s just wanted to get that off his chest for the last few weeks.”
“But still. What exactly do you see in him?”
Yami came walking back then, apparently satisfied. “Well, that’s all taken care of. Shall we go see about those low-rise jeans now?”
Yugi linked arms with him cheerfully. “Sure.”
Risa watched, bemused. “Wait, Yugi, you still have to answer me!”
Yugi just waved as they walked away.
“What’d she mean, ‘answer me’?” Yami asked curiously, a few moments later.
“Oh, she just wanted to know what I saw in a nutcase like you.”
“…and what was your answer?”
Yugi hugged his arm, leaning into his shoulder as he smiled happily. “Everything.”

Notes: Harhar, I threatened a sequel and here it is. xD We all knew Risa wouldn't make it off the hook unscathed for dumping Yugi. This is supposed to take place roughly 2-3 weeks after the school trip. Long enough for Yami and Yugi to have become a couple, but short enough so that it's reasonable. (after all, Yugi wasn't going to be able to keep Yami away from her for long, he had a vendetta. xD) It's good Yugi is such a patient person, I doubt anyone else would be able to put up with Yami. Then again, Yami WAS his knight in black leather armour at the ski lodge, so...xP
