I played 6 games on Saturday with the disenchanted younger half of our club including Jeremy Cahnmann, Tom Kowalik,  Erica Moore, Dave Turissini, Andrew Solomon, and Jeremy's cousin Dave Kraut.  I have the games all Quackled up at home, so no great details or play-throughs, but I feel like I played very well.  If you want to play through both sides ( Read more... )

Face it Brett. I'm just better than you at drawing good tiles from a bag.

I like how you kept my comments in the games resulting in a confusing dual first-person commentary.

"The notes on my turns are from me and visa versa."

There was a disclaimer. I guess the disclaimer might have been confusing too.

great set of games. i had a few questions/comments about certain plays but i didn't want to stop playing through the game to take notes in another window. but i definitely learned a few words (which i will likely forget soon..) so thanks for posting.

the YoungOnes seems like a fun group. it would be great to join you once in a while when i return to IL in a few months. i sure wish urbana was closer to Chicago...

we've got a similar thing going on here with the SF Scrabble Slackers. we meet because we're slackers and would rather play scrabble than work, but not having to deal with the more eccentric members of our local scrabble club is a nice bonus. a showdown between the slackers and youngones would be cool. the people in our group have similar ratings to yours. ah, the difficulties of distance....

So is it true that you might/will be rooming with us in Orlando. If anyone in your crew is interested talk to Jeremy about it, cause I know we're trying to fill some spaces. I look forward to playing with you again. It's been a while. When are you coming back to Urbana?

Also, I am always always interested in outside opinions of my games. That's the point of posting them. If you have questions about things or want to lambaste me, feel free. In these three games, though, you might want to somewhat ignore the endgames because my heart wasn't in them.

PS - both LAMBAST and LAMBASTE are good, the latter of which anagrams to BLASTEMA.

I'm really hoping that if I ever get a chance to play some live non-tournament Scrabble games again, you'll accept me into your "youngsters" group, despite the fact that I was born in the 60s...

I am always up for some games, so if you have time, let me or Jeremy know and we can set-up a session. It's not really a formal thing. We've only met a few times. You're an honorary 80's-ite in my book.
