It's a grand-niece!

My nephew and his girlfriend had the ultrasound to discover the baby's sex today. It's a little girl! :D SO excited. I just texted him and suggested the name Gerta Eunice, or maybe Ermintrude Josephine. Whaddaya think? ;)

Ooh, exciting!

Don't worry about the Great Aunt thing! My mum discovered this time last year that she'd been a Great Aunt for three years & not known about it! (My poor uncle discovered at the same time that he'd been a grandfather since he was 36!).

It's just a little weird to think of myself as being a parent-type figure to yet another generation. :D I imagine when the baby gets here, I'll get over myself. *grin*

Great news!! :D I'm just an aunt at the moment, but I'm sure it will be just as much fun to be a great-aunt someday. I had several great-aunts that I was very close to, so I think that's wonderful! *HUGS*

Oh, I'm sure it'll be a blast; I was so young when my sister's kids were little that I didn't really get to enjoy being an aunt. Now I can! (Can you say "loud, obnoxious toys"? I knew you could!)

Congrats! And I wouldn't worry too much about the great- thing. A friend of mine has a sister old enough to be her mother, and consequently has been a great-aunt since she was quite young. When it comes to nieces and nephews and cousins, these things are flexible.
