Aw, good for you. That is the good thing about having a work out video and space to actually work out in (the dorm sadly lacks that), you really can't make any excuses. I have all these big plans about going to the gym but they only happen on Friday mornings, it seems. Once I'm around for the weekend more on campus (between spring break and other things, I've been home a lot) I hope that will inspire me to go more.

You know, even walking around campus can give you some exercise. When I was in college, I scheduled a 2-hour break in the middle of the day, whenever I could. 45 minutes were spent walking around the neighbourhoods around campus, the rest was break/lunch/etc. It *can* be done. Even just walking a loop around the campus once.

Yay! Go you!! What work out video(s) do you use? I recently bought the For Dummies DVDs on Basic Yoga and Pilates...did the yoga one today...haven't touched the pilates one...I like that the yoga one has modifications if you can't quite do the full posture and ways to step it up a notch if you feel so inclined...

It's actually a Cosmopolitan low-impact aerobic video (not DVD, video) that I bought in roughly 1993 or so, believe it or not. Still good, though. :D

Heh a work-out doesn't really go out of style I don't think...I'm just impressed that you still have a working VCR and that the tape still works! I finally said goodbye to mine about 6 months ago....while it still worked I hadn't actually watched anything on it in several years...(at least I think it still worked!)

Sorry to randomly butt in, but just wanted to comment and say that I really like that DVD. Mostly for the instructor, who manages to be optimistic and encouraging without crossing the line into being so chirpily irritating that you want to come out of Mountain pose and high-kick the TV.

I think the key thing for me is to just not think too much about it beforehand. I HATE working out. Hate it with a passion. I've just never been at all athletically inclined. I was the child who much preferred to curl up on her bed with a stack of books and lots of chocolate (which is one of the reasons why I hit 21, was 50-something pounds overweight and NEEDED to work out, heh). I try to do some form of exercise at least three times a week, but I loathe every moment of it (although I admittedly do feel a lot better afterwards; exercise endorphins are a wonderful thing, they're just hard to remember when you have a cold morning and a warm bed!). Basically I need to just get out of bed and on the treadmill, or get to the gym or the pool, and do it without overthinking it. Once I've started, I'll literally watch the minutes tick by on the clock, but I at least have some momentum. If I lie there and think about it, I can talk myself out of it very easily!
