measi, who wanted an adult-ish rating, Jack being shocked by something Rose admits, and something to do with snow. I hope you have as much fun reading this as I had writing it!
"Trust me," the Doctor said, flipping levers and spinning dials frantically as he danced around the TARDIS console. "You'll love this, and it's something you've never seen before. Well, Rose hasn't, at least, and I don't think you have either, Jack."
"I dunno, Doctor," Jack said easily from his seat on the captain's chair, arm around Rose. "Seen a lot of stuff in my time."
"Ah, but not this," the Doctor said with a grin, winking at them. "I've been saving this one."
"That why you're not letting us help pilot?" Rose asked, grinning. "Or is it because we land better than you do?"
"Oi!" the Doctor protested.
Jack laughed, dropping a kiss on the top of Rose's head. "One for your side," he noted. She grinned up at him, and he reflected how much had changed in such a short time. After being 'found' again by the Doctor-who, it turned out, had never actually lost him-and then working with him to get Rose back, Jack's life had turned 180 degrees from what it had been only a handful of years ago. Being together with the two of them was the life he had never quite allowed himself to imagine in those long years alone, but the hope of it had always lingered at the back of his mind. They'd been together nearly three months of linear time now, and Jack still marvelled at the joy of it.
As though defending the Doctor's driving abilities, the TARDIS landed as gently as she ever had, and the Doctor triumphantly spun one last dial as the Time Rotor ground to a halt. "There," he said, looking up at his partners. "You ready to be amazed?"
Rose hopped off the chair and grinned. "Always," she said, and held out both of her hands. Jack took her left and the Doctor her right, and the three of them left the TARDIS together.
Jack wasn't entirely sure what to expect-'amazing' to the Doctor could be anything from a sunset to a mummified alien body fifteen millennia old-but when they stepped out of the TARDIS, he sucked in a breath in utter shock and stared around him.
Snow. Real snow, falling from the sky and drifting around them-but warm. It had to be close to twenty-five degrees Celsius out there, and yet they were standing in the midst of a snow field, with drifts and ice caves and even a lake that looked as though it had ice floes floating in it.
The Doctor was bouncing on his toes, grinning madly and clearly ready to burst with pride and pleasure. "Well?" he said. "What do you think?"
"Warm snow," Rose said in a soft, wondering voice, and then released Jack's hand to wrap her arms around the Doctor in a tight hug that caused the Doctor's breath to escape in a quiet oof! "This is brilliant!" she said, eyes glowing up at him. "Thank you!"
She kissed him, not quite chastely, and bounced off in giddy delight. Jack stood there, hands on hips, frowning very slightly until the Doctor said, "Something wrong, Jack?"
Jack looked up: the Doctor seemed a bit hesitant, as though trying not to be hurt that his gift wasn't quite up to Jack's standards. Jack grinned in reassurance. "No!" he said honestly. "No, this is-it's fantastic, amazing! I'm just trying to work out how it's done."
The Doctor's smile returned, with just a hint of relief. "Oh, it's easy enough," he said. "It's not water, you see; it's an artificial substance produced on this planet. Creates snow, or something close enough to make no difference, at a comfortable temperature for most of the bipedal species in this sector. Huge draw for the tourist trade-we were on a waiting list for the better part of ten standard years for this room."
Ah, that made more sense. "Pleasure planet?" Jack asked.
"Yeah, Palmyra. I brought Rose here once, before we met you, but we were in one of the resorts at the time. She's seen a holo-suite, but I never did bring her to the True Experience section."
"Oh really?" Jack quirked an eyebrow. "And why not?"
"We were-busy last time we were here." The Doctor's expression had become more than a little smug, and Jack couldn't help chuckling.
"Can't blame you for that. Though this place is really something." He turned to gesture towards the lake, only to be rocked backward with the impact of a ball of warm snow to his shoulder, which splattered up into his face. The yelp next to him indicated the Doctor had been hit too. Jack wiped his face clean, already plotting revenge, only to stop stock-still, staring.
Rose had shucked out of her clothing-all of her clothing-and was standing at the lake's edge, giggling. The loosely-packed snowball in her hands gave proof positive where the missiles had come from, as though he'd ever doubted it. "You two talk too much," she said, and threw. Jack dodged by pure reflex and Rose turned, diving cleanly into the water. She surfaced, shaking water out of her face and grinning. "What's the matter?" she taunted. "Getting too old to keep up with me?"
The Doctor and Jack looked at each other, grinned diabolically, then as one began stripping. Jack, being Jack, was naked first, and he sprinted for the water, turning his momentum into a professional, shallow dive. Rose squealed and he saw a flash of leg just before he hit as she took off in the opposite direction. The Doctor hit the water just after Jack did, and the battle was on.
Fast as Jack was, and crafty as the Doctor could be, Rose still managed somehow to stay just out of reach. She was clever, too; twice she managed to dodge in such a way that the men got tangled up in each other instead of grabbing her. Which, Jack had to admit, had its benefits as well; the Doctor might look skinny, but there was a perfectly lovely layer of lean muscle all over. Not to mention the Doctor's long, elegant hands, and his eminently kissable mouth, and-
The Doctor grinned at him and leant forward, catching Jack's lips with his own. Never one to complain about this sort of attention, Jack happily kissed back, sliding his hands around the Doctor's torso and to his back, pulling him closer. The Doctor deepened the kiss, and Jack could feel the distinct evidence of his growing interest. He grinned into the other's mouth, hands moving slowly over the Doctor's skin.
"Now that's more like it," Rose said from directly beside him, and he felt her hand against the small of his back. The Doctor broke the kiss and leaned away slightly, allowing Jack to turn his head and kiss Rose instead. She responded enthusiastically, and the Doctor shifted to allow her to slip between the two of them and began peppering her shoulder with light kisses. Rose made a small, needy sound, and one of her hands left Jack's shoulder, probably to reach behind her for the Doctor.
Jack was suddenly aware that he could touch the bottom of the lake-more a pool than a lake; the bottom was as even and clean as any ordinary swimming pool. More than that, he was aware that Rose couldn't. The water was shoulder-height to him, and she was both considerably shorter than he and lifted up higher in the water; her left leg was wrapped over his hip, her right arm around his neck, and he could just see her nipples above the water, tightly pebbled with arousal. All sorts of interesting possibilities appeared in his mind, and he grinned in anticipation.
Rose broke the kiss, breathing ragged. "What?"
Jack let his grin spread wickedly, and instead of answering, caught the Doctor's heated gaze over her shoulder. "You thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Leverage?" the Doctor asked archly.
"Exactly." Jack ran his hand down Rose's right side, over her bum, down to her thigh, urging her silently to wrap that leg around him as well. Cottoning on, she grinned back at him and complied, reaching down between them to guide him into her. Jack hissed in a breath as he slid inside but kept his eyes locked with hers, watching her already-dilated eyes darken even further as he filled her.
The Doctor's hand reached past Rose to stroke Jack's cheek, capturing his attention, then twined in his hair and tugged his head to the side so the Time Lord could lean in and kiss him. Rose shifted to give them more room, and Jack felt himself getting lost in his lovers. It was a new sensation; in his years before the two of them-what the Doctor jokingly called his 'galactic playboy' years-he'd certainly enjoyed his encounters (some more than others, of course), but he'd never completely lost himself in the moment. Some part of him had always held back, kept a bit himself aware and separate from what was going on. There was none of that here. Since being reunited with the Doctor and Rose, and the three of them becoming lovers, he'd found it frighteningly easy to lose awareness of anything but the three of them when they were together. Frightening-and wonderful.
The Doctor's hand left Jack's hair and travelled down Rose's back to her hips, where he gently pried Jack's hands loose, replacing them with his own. Jack wasn't sure what he was doing-until the Doctor lifted Rose slightly. He then let her slide back down over Jack's cock again, and the Doctor's intention became suddenly clear. Jack growled in approval and wrapped a hand around the back of the Doctor's neck, the other reaching between himself and Rose to cup a breast, as the Doctor took over the rhythm of their lovemaking.
"God," Rose groaned, her hands curling into fists against Jack's shoulders. He felt the light scrape of her nails and shivered with the effort of not thrusting into her, letting the Doctor keep control. Slow shallow movements seemed to be the name of the game just now-just enough to keep Jack creeping slowly toward orgasm, not enough to push him over the top. He groaned in frustration, nipping at the Doctor's lip in a silent plea.
"The next move's yours," the Doctor murmured into his mouth, and pressed Rose down harder onto him. Rose gave a little gasping cry that went straight to the base of Jack's spine, and he understood exactly what the Doctor meant. He let go the Doctor's neck and reached down between himself and Rose, thumb seeking out her clitoris and pressing against it, rubbing in tiny circles. Caught by surprise, she flailed, her orgasm slamming into her and causing her to clench around him. Instinctively he thrust into her just as the Doctor pressed her down, and she cried out again.
"That's it," the Doctor said approvingly into Rose's ear, his voice so low as to be almost a growl. "Just like that." He pressed a kiss against the side of Rose's jaw, sucking lightly at her skin as she whimpered, her legs tightening around Jack. Jack's own jaw was clenched with the effort of keeping control as the Doctor's hands and Rose's internal musculature combined to drag him forcefully towards his own release.
Rose's eyes snapped open and she pinned Jack with her gaze. Staring into his eyes, she licked her red, swollen lips as the Doctor kissed his way down her throat. "Come for us, Jack," she murmured. The Doctor's eyes opened as well, though he never stopped what he was doing, as Rose's hands skated down from Jack's shoulders over his chest, thumbs flicking at his nipples. "Please," she whispered. "Come for us."
His orgasm slammed into him like a tidal wave and he reached for them, dragging both of his lovers tight to him as he thrust erratically into her, giving into pure primal instinct. A deep cry tore from his throat as he emptied into Rose, pumping until the last shiver of ecstasy had faded and he was left trembling and exhausted in his lovers' arms. Gasping, he rested his head against Rose's as the Doctor gently, carefully lifted her away and set her back on her feet-when had the water level lowered enough for her to reach the bottom?-then wrapped his long, thin arms around Rose and Jack and held them both tightly.
A moment or two passed in silent, loving communion, until Rose twisted her head round to look up at the Doctor. "What about you?" she asked.
He quirked an eyebrow, grinning down at her. "Recovered already?" he teased. "No nap necessary this time, eh?"
Jack chuckled, loosening his hold on both of them so Rose could turn around and face the Doctor. "You're the one who's almost a thousand years old," she said sweetly. "Maybe it's just that you need to save your strength?"
Jack laughed as the Doctor growled, pulling her flush against him. "I'll show you a thousand years old," he said, and kissed her. She chuckled into his mouth and twined her arms around his neck, arching into him. Jack just grinned, stroking his hands up and down Rose's soft back and enjoying the show.
They jerked apart, startled, as a klaxon sounded and the clear, faux-winter sunlight suddenly turned red. They glanced at each other briefly, then struck out for the edge of the pool. "What is it?" Jack asked, helping Rose out of the water and then hoisting himself up after her.
"Dunno," the Doctor said, frowning as he scooped up his clothes and trainers, holding them against his front. "Some sort of natural disaster, maybe? There aren't any wars or invasions at this point in history, I know. Let's get to the TARDIS, see what she can tell us."
But before they'd gone more than another couple of steps, a deep voice sounded over some sort of speaker system, so loudly that Rose clapped her hands to her ears.
"You have violated the Decency Code of the Palatina Consortium. Remain where you are until you are taken into custody."
"Decency code?" the Doctor yelled, glaring up into the reddened 'sky'. "What decency code?"
"Remain where you are until you are taken into custody," the voice said again.
The Doctor turned around to meet Rose and Jack's gazes in turn, and then held up the TARDIS key he'd taken out of his trouser pocket. There were nods of comprehension and agreement, and then they were running for the TARDIS as though they were already being chased.
"Remain still or you will be forcibly detained!" the voice snapped, but Jack wasn't paying attention; the Doctor was already at the TARDIS, inserting the key into the lock, beginning to turn it-
And then a shock went through him, as though he'd touched a live wire, and the world went black.
***
The Doctor sat with his knees to his chest in the corner of the cell in which he'd been placed, tapping his fingers against his shoes and trying to figure a way out of there.
The shock field they'd used to 'detain' the three of them had had significantly less effect on him than it had on Jack and Rose. If he'd been alone, he could still have managed to crawl into the TARDIS and escape, but there was no way, in his weakened state, he'd have been able to lift the unconscious bodies of both of his lovers and carry them into the ship before the guards arrived. In fact, he'd not been entirely sure he'd be able to close the door again if he did manage to get the TARDIS unlocked, so he tucked the key back into a pocket and allowed himself to be taken away with the other two, hoping that he could come up with some way to get them out.
Unfortunately, while the guards had allowed him to get dressed, he'd left his trench coat hanging over one of the coral support struts of the console room-no need for it in the balmy temperatures of the snow room, after all. Which wouldn't be a problem, except that he'd left the sonic screwdriver in the coat. That didn't prevent his working his way out of this situation, of course-he'd got out of worse situations with less-but it did make it less likely. And of course, there was the insignificant little fact that he didn't actually know where they'd put the TARDIS-nor where they'd taken Rose, despite all his demands to the contrary.
Jack, at least, was in the cell with him, lying on the narrow wooden platform that was probably intended to serve as a bed. The Doctor had managed to re-clothe him, all but his boots, but he hadn't woken yet from the shock field. Which made the Doctor just a little nervous; if he hadn't been able to see that both Rose and Jack were still breathing after the field had rendered them unconscious, he'd have thought they might have accidentally been killed. That outcome wouldn't have been as horrific as it would have been before Satellite Five, of course, but it would make it problematic for him to find them-waking up in a latched morgue drawer would not have been pleasant, and if someone had managed to find them, any government interfering enough to have monitored a pleasure planet for 'indecency' would likely have caused all sorts of trouble for apparently immortal humans.
Still, though he knew they'd only been knocked out, he couldn't keep himself from fretting over the two of them, internally at least, though he'd managed to resist hovering over Jack's supine form.
A deep, pain-filled groan made him look up hopefully, then leap to his feet as Jack raised his hands to his head, rubbing his eyes with the heels of his hands. "Oh, God," Jack said. "What happened?"
"Shock field." The Doctor sat down beside Jack's waist and leant forward, peering down into his face as Jack lowered his hands. He lifted each of Jack's eyelids, looking closely into his eyes. "How're you feeling?"
"Like I got knocked out by a couple hundred volts of electricity." Jack pushed himself up into a sitting position with the Doctor's help, wincing just a bit. "Man, that hurts. Feels like I've been sparring with my old commander all day." He rubbed the back of his neck, then suddenly looked up, glancing around the cell. "Where's Rose?" he asked sharply.
"I'm not sure," the Doctor said, a bit more sharply than he meant. "They took her somewhere else when they came to collect us, and I've not managed to find out where." The Doctor moved so Jack could swing his feet to the floor and wince as he stretched. He handed Jack his boots, watching as he shoved his feet into them and laced them up, tying them with a tight, efficient bow and tucking the laces into the boot tops. Military training coming out, the Doctor thought.
"Any thoughts on how we're getting out of here?" Jack asked, standing and stamping his feet to settle them properly into the boots.
"Oh, yeah," the Doctor said. "Loads of them. Problem is, most of them need the sonic screwdriver, and that appears to have been left in the TARDIS. Clumsy of me. Still, there are a couple of things we could do. Much easier now you're awake, of course." He grinned at Jack, who grinned back, understanding.
"Right," Jack said. "What do you want me to do?"
***
Jack banged loudly on the door to their cell. "Hey!" he called. "Hey! A little help, here! My friend's sick-I think he's dying!"
A guard's face showed briefly in the small, barred window in the door. "What're you on about?" he grunted.
"My friend!" Jack said, gesturing to the supine form of the Doctor on the 'bed.' "Something to do with your shock field or something. He's not waking up. I think you injured him."
"He was fine when we came to get you," the guard said dismissively.
"Yeah, but he's not human!" Jack pursued. "His physiology's entirely different. You don't want to risk him getting really sick or dying before he's taken to trial, do you?" He wasn't entirely sure there'd be a trial, but it seemed a risk worth taking. He wasn't even sure what they were being charged with, come to that.
The guard curled his lip. "Think I care whether a couple perverts like you live or die?" he snarled. "How you can live with yourself, taking advantage of a lady like that-" He turned his back on Jack and walked away, saying pointedly over his shoulder, "Why don't you take care of him yourself, since the two of you are so close?"
Jack frowned. Perverts? Taking advantage of a lady? "What the hell was that about, Doc?" he asked turning around to the Doctor, who'd raised himself to a sitting position with a rueful look on his face.
"Should've known that wouldn't work," the Doctor sighed. "Not sure what he meant, actually, though given the phrase taking advantage of a lady and taking into account what we were doing when the alarms went off, I think I have a general idea."
The penny dropped, and so did Jack's jaw. "You mean we were arrested for having a threesome?" he asked. "But-this is a pleasure planet!"
"And there are times in its history when it's run by some fairly, shall we say, conservative types," the Doctor said. "Remember what they said when we were arrested? We'd violated the Decency Code of the Palatina Consortium. That puts us right about the 42nd century. Not the most liberal of times pretty much anywhere, if you remember your school days."
"Hm. Point." Jack walked over and sat down next to the Doctor, sighing. "Miscalculation again. Seems to get us into trouble fairly often. Not that I'm complaining," he added, hands up as though to ward off the Doctor's protest. "It's exciting, if nothing else. But I'm worried about Rose."
The Doctor huffed out a breath. "Yeah," he said. "Me too. Right-time for plan B, then."
"And what's plan B?" Jack asked.
"Dunno yet." The Doctor grinned. "It'll be a great one, though."
The door rattled, and both men jumped, startled, and turned to face it as one. There was no-one visible through the tiny window. Cautiously, Jack rose, stepping between the Doctor and the door. The Doctor might have greater physical strength, but Jack had more experience with hand-to-hand combat, and given the glimpse he'd had earlier of the guard, he reckoned he had a better-than-even chance of taking the guy down if he managed to surprise him.
The lock made a tiny clattering noise, and then Jack heard the tumblers click into place before the door slowly inched open. Jack stood well out of the way in case whoever was opening the door decided to slam it open into his face, and watched, weight balanced forward, hands open and ready at his sides. Behind him he could sense the Doctor also standing, waiting to see what help he might need to give.
A head slipped round the edge of the door. A familiar, blonde head. Brown eyes sparkled with relief. "Oh, thank God," Rose said, and opened the door more fully. "You're awake and dressed. Good. Let's get out of here."
Jack just stared at her. It couldn't be Rose-it just couldn't be. "How'd you get out?" he demanded. "And how the hell did you get the key?"
"I didn't get the key." She held up a pair of thin metal tools-lock picks, Jack realised with utter shock. "I used these. Handy little things, they are."
"B-but," Jack stuttered, still trying to wrap his brain around the situation. "Where did you get lock picks, of all things?"
Rose just grinned. "Never wondered why I'd taken to wearing long, dangly earrings, did you?" she asked archly. "Or why I'd always wear the same pair when we went exploring? Fifty years in Torchwood ought to have taught me something."
The Doctor's hand curved over Jack's shoulder. "Let's save the questions, shall we?" he suggested. "We might not have much time to run. D'you know where they've put the TARDIS, Rose?"
"Yeah," she said. "Down the hall a bit. By the way, we're being held on charges of adultery, but they can't figure out which of you is legally married to me and which is my lover. That's why they separated us, and why they've left us alone for so long. I think they rather hoped one of you would kill the other for my sake." She rolled her eyes.
"All the more reason for us to leg it." The Doctor shook Jack slightly, jarring him out of his gobsmacked daze. "C'mon, you can be shocked by Rose's newfound skills later."
Jack shook himself like a dog shedding water. "Right. Let's go." The faint sounds of shouting came floating through the door, and he grinned. "Fast!"
***
Rose stumbled into the TARDIS just behind the Doctor. Jack, who was playing rearguard, slammed the doors shut as the Doctor ran to the console, starting the TARDIS on her dematerialisation sequence. Rose leaned against one of the coral support pillars, gasping for breath, and Jack joined her, sliding an arm around her. She leant against him, her arms going around his waist, and chuckled through her gasps. "Never thought I'd be chased by some guy in priest's robes yelling 'Wanton woman!'" she told him.
"He has no idea just how right he is." Jack lifted her chin with a knuckle and kissed her.
She grinned up at him. "You'd know."
"Yes, he would," the Doctor said from behind her. He slid his own arms around her and pressed against her back, kissing the nape of her neck. "Unfortunately, we were interrupted before I had a chance to find out for myself."
Jack laughed low in his throat and Rose grinned, turning to face the Doctor. "So we did," she purred, linking her wrists behind his neck. "Maybe we could go back for another try? We'll just push it forward a couple hundred years, yeah?"
"Sounds good to me," the Doctor said, bending to kiss her.
