About not being heard or read: I've written, and submitted to publishers three novels, and two non-fiction books - entire, finished manuscripts (or so I thought when I submitted them). None were published, and now I see why, but at the time I thought it terribly unfair. I'm just now getting to the point where my writing seems good enough. I'll even go back on Fetlife to do so, if you want me to. (I'm just in infrequent reading mode now, and don't see many announcements)

Don't give up the ship. You are telling your story. it is unique. Maybe your story is so unique that it is not representative, other than when people aren't willing to listen - plenty of us have that problem. That does not mean your story is not worth telling, or reading.
