We like simplifications when we find ourselves wanting to explain complex things to people who have less need to understand them that we have need for them to have that understanding. Charlotte Wolery I've always just said it's a matter of the soul. Birth defects are rampant, some aren't seen for years, but who would tell a man with no arms that his essence as a human being is to be armless, and that it is God's will he never have arms. It's unconscionable.

The body is an imperfect avatar of the soul. Birth defects happen and all this is birth defect.
