The Wisdom Teeth Update

Mar 14, 2006 10:40

So far, it's been a real joyride. The actual surgery wasn't so bad, since I slept through the whole thing, but then came the Aftermath. ( Hoboy. )

health, update, wtf

LIVING IS GOOD O.O

(man, am I ever glad now that I had my wisdom teeth out with just a local)

Yes, living is good. Unfortunately I have a strong resistance to novacaine, so I was not exactly willing to do it with just a local when I'd have to feel them digging out two impacted teeth. I also had no idea I'd react to the anathesia the way I did. But since I've had a thing of broth, two pieces of bread and a can's worth of tuna fish salad, so I think I'm doing much better.

Oh, Lauren, I'm so sorry. All I can say is that I hope that was the end of it because one day of that is entirely too much.

Thanks, JM. So far that looks like it was the worst of it. Just a combination of poor planning and too many drugs in my belly at once.

I might not say no! Oh, hon, don't be scared. Most people don't go under general anathesia for things like this, and when I had my first tooth pulled I was only under twilight. I didn't have nearly these problems, just a little soreness for a few days. If you have to get it done, that's the way I'd say to go.

But yes, much better feeling, less like the world is whorlygigging around me. If you're around and want to play with me to make me feel better, I would not be against that, even though I might go out to buy clothses later with my wonderful mother who's staying home with me.

Don't tempt me with the thoughts! Awwwww your mom is so nice! I like when my mom babies me when I'm sick, it makes me appreciate having a nurse around that isn't trying to kill me. I just...I hate the idea of dentists and getting surgery'd on and I'm like, oh noes, Senior.

But if RP will make my Lauren feel better, RP my Lauren shall get! Only not until after three cause that's when I get home. Oh, Volunteer work, you so silly.

What was the steroid for? the amoxicillian? You make me not want mine removed!

But I'm glad you're not on the big white phone to God anymore.

The steroid is to reduce the swelling in the first few days so my throat doesn't swell shut, because the teeth were (of course) very far back in my mouth. The Amoxicillian is to keep me from having an infection in the sockets until they heal over. THe Vicodin is, of course, for the pain. So far I haven't needed it, for which I am grateful.

Me too. If the getting sick had continued into today I would have needed to go to the hospital to keep from losing too many nutrients too quickly.

... That's really scary, throats swelling shut. Even scarier to look at, because you can physically see it happening. But, yes! GOOD TO HAVE. I found Vicodin doesn't work like everyone says it does, it's very picky.

Yeah, then that's really good. Try applesauce, it stays down well and medicine likes it. Plus, it requires no chewing.

My throat's really in no danger of swelling shut, but that's okay. Mostly I'm avoiding the Vicodin in case I need it because although I know it got rid of the pain I'm not sure it isn't what made me sick, too. And yes, applesauce = good. Also my Mama's tuna salad has done me worlds of good too.

On the whole I'm glad I got it done despite all these problems because one of the ones on the bottom was starting to come in and cutting into my cheek, which was very painful because of course those teeth were sharper than the ones that'd been free of the gum for a while.
