That was so full of awesome that I don't know where to begin. What a way to enter the fandom! Wonderful job, and I look forward to seeing more from you soon. :)

Great start! It's an interesting idea, Zoe teaching Wash how to fight-- takes the pacifist trope and really follows through in a way nobody seems to cover much of.

I like the way you've got her always calling him, "Pilot." It's a refreshing change from fanon's "flyboy" and I think it really drives home the point that he eventually makes about her, which is that she doesn't let anyone in or even let anyone get close. You've got her correcting herself at the climax of the story, "Pilot, no, Wash" and that's a fantastic nod to her terseness ( ... )

I really appreciate your words, sarahetc. I can't think of a better way to be encouraged to write more in this fanon. I've dabbled here and there in many universes, and it's always nice to know that a foray for the first time into a new one was somewhat worth it! I look at the story now and see lots of little punctuation errors and the like, but I wrote in in a day and was itching to get it up. I'll gladly pass any work along for your eyes in the future :)

Welcome again! :-D

I was hooked early on by great lines like these:

" Don’t worry folks, I am here at last to assist you in a helpful and masculine manner!”

You totally captured the characters. I love the image of Zoe teaching Wash to fight and that event being what finally gets them together - perfect!

I can't wait to see what else you'll write in this fandom!
