So what proportion of the population of the current Turkish state are actually Turks, rather than Kurds, deracinated Armenians (and presumably also deracinated Greeks and Assyrians)?

It's hard to tell.

Also, one should understand that many of the recently assimilated ethnic groups are eager to prove their Turkishness. With all the accompanying crap like extreme Armenophobia, etc. So it is not right to count them as "crypto-our-guys" if that was what you meant.

The film says it: the tragedy is not that hamshens no little of their origins [as devastating as this seems], but the true tragedy is that MOST Armenians have absolutely no clue who the hamshens [or for that matter....]are...
