My friend wrote the following in an email to me: I'm procrastinating with Silence of the Lambs on Bravo. Much better film when it's interrupted by ads for KY Warming Liquid Personal Lubricant and Adelphia Preferred High-Speed Internet.
So I wrote back: Hmm, did they try and PG-ify it? You know, change words and stuff? That always cracks me up. Like

You know what's amazing? I was watching a network airing of "Glengarry Glen Ross" and was halfway into Alec Baldwin's big speech to the salesman when I realized what I was watching and that the swearing must have been edited out, but I hadn't detected it at all. I don't know if I was just on cough syrup that day or if they actually did that seamless a job of dubbing, but I was pretty impressed, at the time.

during the scene where Buffalo Bill is putting lip gloss (or liner or whatever it is) on his lips, and saying "do you want to fuck me?" to himself in the mirror, it was edited to say "do you want to have me?", etc...you'd think they could leave it in, being a cable station and all.
