You may not remember me, but I'm a friend of your former roommate's (Becky) ex-boyfriend (Tim). I met you once a couple years ago and Tim often spoke of stuff he'd read in your journal. So, I added you to my friends list ages ago. This was the preface. Here comes the comment.
I think that if more people thought like you did about war (long and hard), there would be a whole lot fewer people going to war. But it's just so easy to take everything that causes you negative emotions (up to and including yourself) and embody it in somebody else. You put them up on the pedestal of human skulls and talk about how evil they are and it's so much easier to pick up a weapon or turn a tool into a weapon. So much easier than to think. But we have to think. We weren't given brains just to fill up our skulls. God didn't give us five senses to ignore

Ah. I really like that "sand in my spiritual oyster" bit. Chances are good that I'm going to end up saying that some day and trying to figure out who I stole it from. Just a heads-up.
And it's hard to not like human suffering and not end up in a political debate lately. The whole country's been polarized: either you support our president or you're some sort of commie-pinko-leftist-nutjob. It's not possible to say things like "I support our troops. The chief way I do this is by saying we bring 'em home as soon as humanly possible." That's why I watch The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. It's like Bill O'Reilly's show, except it's meant to be funny. I can laugh at the sad state our country's in and that people say these things on other channels for applause and not laughter. It lets me duck my head into the sand a little further so I'm not as shocked when somebody thinks it's possible to win a nuclear war...and actually tries it.
I don't think you know me but I've been watching the peaceinchrist community and I came across a comment you left on someone's post. You sound like an interesting person, really expressive and thoughtful. We also have a bunch of similar interests. (: would you like to add me to your friends list?
