Choose Life

There is an idea that has been going around AA for a long time now. It is the idea of choice. I've heard things like "Today I choose not to drink." That makes no sense to me.

I have a choice not to drink in the same manner that I have a choice not to play Russian Roulette. While I understand the arguments regarding choice and I don't want to change ( Read more... )

You said it was the same as RR. In that case you would either be dead by now, or attending RR meetings. Yes or No? That's what you said. Not me. You would be dead because you said you have no choice. A RR addict always finds a way. Cheers

I don't recall saying anything about Rational Recovery, but I will say something about it now. I don't see any use for it. AA is working for me. Why would I switch to something unknown when I have something that already works?

If Rational Recovery works for you then I encourage you to stay in RR. Don't go to AA unless it helps you. Otherwise, stay away. No sense in going to AA if RR is working for you.

Regarding your statement " A RR addict always finds a way." is a faith statement. I cannot join you in your faith. I do not know what mystical element in RR that makes your statement true.
