tired, so i wont make a long comment. but its totally cool to take a break from DA and try some new things, like drawing from real life. for digital, can i suggest to dl some freeware art programs once you have internet again? all art programs feel different so they would all expose you to different techniques just by using them. i find that they affect my approach to my photoshop works, too. OpenCanvas has a free version, paint tool SAI has a 30 day free trial, and theres tegaki http://www.unowen.net/tegaki/index.php which is simple but very challenging to get what you want, but very fun and interesting, too. to me, exploring different techniques for digital art means to explore the different programs out there since they all have slightly different ways of approaching art, especially painting.
advisement: You should try OC (open canvas) as ppl say that it is affordable (about ten times cheaper then photoshop) and much better for drawing (as _photo_ shop were not intended for drawing, as macromedia, erm abode flash were not intended for animation makeing)
