I want to talk to successful artists (i.e. artists who are in love with what they are doing and making it work) or people who help artists be successful (artist reps, gallery owners, etc.). What inspirational person do you think I absolutely should talk to? Bonus if in PDX.

I don't know if I love what I do but I like it better than other jobs I've had.

Would you be open to meeting by any chance? I'd love to hear more about your experiences.

You bet I will! I'll even get you a cookie.

Is your email on your site? Maybe we can work out a time and place in the not too distant future.

I'm stoked!

I highly recommend you talk to Rocky Kelley/Ashen Gray. His contact info at www.rockykelley.com. Not in pdx (in Austin), but he's been doing this a long time, and although he's had various degrees of commercial "success" when he talks about his art to me, well, yeah.

You can even tell him I sent him your way, if you want.

BTW, he loves Grant (G gave him an award in the art show at ArmadilloCon when G was FGoh a few years back, plus of course G is just an all around swell guy), so you could even tell him about you and G, and well he'd be all over that just on a personal level I'm sure.

Awesome! I'll be sure to do that. I'll probably contact him Sunday night.
