Starbuck, Eleven, and Abed are some of my favorite characters ever

ME TOO. As I was writing this up, I was thinking how well chosen these fandoms were for getting at some of my favorites ever. Of the six, Robin is the only one who wouldn't make my Top 20 characters ever. (Maybe even Top 10, but I'm not prepared to claim something that extreme without a lot of thought). And Robin's still pretty dang cool.

I have kind of stopped watching that show though...
Honestly, I can't blame you. At this point I watch out of habit. It still has its moments, but it's not what it was, sadly enough.

What interests me in redemption arcs is not atonement for past wrongdoings (which is why I find Angel very boring most of the time). I don't care about some cosmic balancing of the scales, and actually find the concept really hard to wrap my mind around. Nothing someone like Spike could do could "make up" for the things he had done (as they discuss in Angel Season 5), but that doesn't interest me.

I have to agree about Barney and Robin. I feel like Robin's the one in this really awesome character place right now, and Barney's… less so. But yes, Robin Sherbatsky. My wife.

Yes, exactly! It's like they don't know what to do with Barney anymore, but they think he's a major part of the appeal of the show because NPH is such a big deal, so they keep pushing him to the forefront anyway. Oh well.

What I love about Abed is that he understands people and respects them on a deeper level than most of the other characters are capable of, hence him calling Chang "El Tigre" and whatnot.

Yeeees. So true. And I also agree about the Shirley/Abed friendship. LOVE IT.
