Rory's broken little face when he thought Amy was telling the doctor she loved him. It was perfectly...quiet upset. Ugh. YES. I love that he didn't get all angry. And he was still ready to save her. (And yet, he never feels pathetic, you know? He loves her, and he isn't/wasn't quite sure that she loved him/just him as much as he loved her, but he's decided to care for her anyway. In the same way that he waited the 2,000 because he wanted her to be safe, even though he was afraid she would be angry that he, you know, killed her. I think I need to do a post about all the ways in which Rory is amazing.)
Maybe I'm a terrible person, but I liked the way the Doctor got 'rid' of the silence. They could leave Earth, or just hide underground and not bother people and live. IDK. No, I think it's great. It's, in its way, VERY merciful (as opposed to a lot of what 10 did). They can just freaking leave, and they'll be fine. Which is all he wants. If they chose not to leave? That's their own faut.
I found the portrayal of Nixon as . . . humanizing. I suppose there's something to like about everybody, and I found myself liking this Nixon and completely forgetting that he was still THAT Nixon. It was quite alarming.
I have never shipped Amy and Rory as much as I am shipping Amy and Rory now. Probably because I have never loved Rory as much as I love him now.
River thrills me one minute and guts me the next. Her face after the kiss as the Doctor went away was heartbreaking.
Here from the daily (you don't know me, weird, sorry) and all seconded, including the bits you didn't like as much. :) It was amazeballs overall though, for sure!
What I love about it is that we got just enough-wrap up to feel satisfied, but still had awesome longer plot-lines questions laid out. It's a nice balance between classic one/tw-o episode stories, and shows like Lost, where nothing is EVER resolved.
But this is totally like him and I do not just mean since his 9th incarnation but in general. Fair enough! I believe you about classic Who -- I haven't watched enough of it to know. But I do think that, as a character trait, it's being a lot more blatantly obviously used as a way to manipulate when the season arc comes in and out of play with SM than it ever was with RTD. I don't mind that much, but Eleven's line about it was just a little on the nose for me.
I honestly could have hugged this two parter. It was so utterly amazing. Agreed!
