when did you sign up for your LJ account?
cause there was a certain cut-off date, like if you signed up for your username beyond that date, basic account is no longer provided; it's a either plus or paid account to use.

mine is an old account. my first LJ username, circa 2003. so i can switch back and forth from basic to plus whenever.
