I'm sort of obsessed with jezebel.com.

For those of you who are not... check out this piece on the Disney darlings.   They say a lot of things that Pasta and I have been saying all along and also bring up an interesting closing point about the Disney boys vs the Disney girls. the jezebel article is spot on, but i've already read it all from your posts. there's is the summary version.

um, i am up in arms about this beezus/ramona crap. i read that whole series, multiple times, and just, why? i was even a fan of the short-lived tv show that used to be on (and i think i watched it on disney!), and a movie just is not needed. actually, movies, as from the sound of the usa today article, they're going to continue on through the series.

unacceptable.

Continue on through the whole series? Selena, bad career move! Don't box yourself in!

I wish they would set in the 70s/80s like it is intended. How is Beezus supposed to cry over her Dorothy Hamil haircut if no one is even getting those today?

I was just thinking that the Jezebels are using selective evidence. What of Brenda Song? Or Raven Symone? And that Aly girl?

This is a good point. It seems you only get attention if you do something kind of slutty. Maybe that is also something which they should eye with feminist disdain.

That said, Brenda Song is dropping off my list because she will. not. leave. Disney. On the one hand, I appreciate the need for a paycheck in a tough economy, but on the other hand-- she can do better than the Sprouse twins.
