I am pretty excited about this, not gonna lie. This will be the second published story about my spaceship crew (not counting the beagle story).

Thanks! I wrote this poor thing back in 2007.

My spaceship crew is hired to take what they think is a plain old grizzly bear to a monastery. It's actually a cave bear. That has human intelligence.

And then it escapes. Wackiness, as they say, ensues.

Congratulations! I'm going to have to scrounge around in the budget for more book-buying money - I'd love to read more anthologies. They always seem to lead to needing more books by the featured authors ;)

I see the next antho is going to be dragons - and lo and behold, my long-and-can't-be-cut-further-to-fit-more-markets story is a dragon one! I'm excited to see when that opens up for submissions. This story got two "we like it, but not exactly a fit - please send us more stories" rejections from pro markets, so it is pro quality... Just odd and long.

Thanks!

Ooo, yeah. I've got a reprint for that they might like, also starring my spaceship crew. It was published in an obscure little magazine that went out of business after five (I think) issues, so--I'll keep an eye on that. It went long too, 9900 words.

It also depends on what it pays; this one paid a penny a word and several of their others only pay $10 or so. I have another dragon story as well, but the dragon doesn't actually show up until the last act and I haven't run out of pro markets for it yet. I could always write something new...
