Sometimes, I am not a good person.

So, I enjoy helping people on Yahoo!Answers. I like finding a book that someone can't remember the title and author to, I enjoy answering publishing questions, I have fun linking to useful websites, and critting is good for me as well as them ( Read more... )

ROFL! Oh, that is a thing of beauty!

I'm thinking I may have to take a look at Yahoo!Answers... because I love ferretting out things, as well. I don't know if it still exists, but I used to hang out a lot at a website called Ask the Bookseller, where people would try to track down the title to books they'd read, sometimes with only vague descriptions. So much fun trying to figure things out! Even better, Rackham had been looking for a book he'd read as a child but could only remember one scene... and one day, while perusing that site, I found someone asking about a book that had a very similar sounding scene. Thankfully, someone else had come up with the answer and I did some checking around... eventually ordering a copy of the book from the UK to give Rackham as a present. And sure enough, it was the right book.

I use the Canadian side, because they're revamping it to be horrible but haven't gotten around to doing that to the Canada one yet:

I probably spend more time faffing around on there than I should, but sometimes I really felt like I've helped someone and that gives me warm fuzzies.

It's amazing how these things can suck you in. I just got totally hooked on http://www.geoguessr.com to the point where I have to set a time limit on how much I can play. I was really feeling, I don't know, guilty(?) about the time I was spending on that one, until I realize that it really is a game... on par with doing word searches or crosswords. Doing that sort of online research for fun is no different! Just another type of game that exercises your brain.

I, for one, am vastly amused. But this is clearly a kid who didn't explore the site before he dove in, or he would have realized that he's not such a Special Snowflake that we'd do his homework for him, even though no one else ever gets their homework done for them.

In other words, this kid never does his homework. *badumpish*
